Hanover High School Athletics

The HHS Athletics Legacy Award is presented for outstanding athletic accomplishments. At the time of it's inception, the premise was that Legacy Awards would be presented occasionally and for very special individuals.

Well, fast forward to 2024 and three very special student-athletes are being recognized with a Legacy Award. These individuals demonstrated skills and characteristics that will continue their success well beyond Hanover High School.

If it has not been stated previously, the Class of 2024 was incredibly talented. Many of the leaders in athletics demonstrated a great perspective towards competition. They were hard-working and humble. They were selfless and supportive. Their abilities generated great opportunities and their maturity led teams to new levels of success.

There were many students worthy of recognition as Athlete of the Year. The students chosen were successful across numerous seasons and were both 3-sport student-athletes. The recognition, however, is for a singular season in which their participation was integral to the success of the team.

Congratulations to our 2024 Athletes of the Year; Eva Kelliher and John McDonald.

Towards the end of this school year, a display case was provided for Athletic Department use to display recent Track & Field School Recods.

Plaques with the newest records broken and/or set arrived yesterday and were added to the display case.

It is AMAZING how many records have been set in the past two school years, as depicted in the attached image. Numerous plaques list multiple school records for a singular student-athlete. Congrats to all of our recent Track & Field record setters!

Term 4 grades have been posted. The Spring Athletic Teams continue an impressive streak of Academic Excellence.

All 9 Programs earn MIAA Academic Excellence Awards, as well as all 14 Individual Teams.

The graphics list the top 5 average GPAs for Programs and Teams.

Congratulations to all spring student-athletes on a great season, academically and athletically!

The HHS Turf/Track will be closing next week for final updates to the facility, specifically resurfacing/striping of the track.

The precise dates for the closure are weather dependent. Initial closure is expected around 6/26, with all work expected to be finished by 7/8.

Anticipation is building for Saturday afternoon!

Hanover Athletics is thrilled to host a second MIAA State Semifinal match today.

On Monday, in the MIAA Division 2 Boys Tennis Tournament, Duxbury defeated Hingham at Hanover High School to advance to the State Finals.

This afternoon, in the MIAA Division 2 Girls Tennis Tournament, NDA will compete against Hingham with the winner advancing to the State Finals.

Thank you to the Community Preservation Committee & the Hanover Community for the past support which resulted in the tennis court construction project.

Also, thank you to Hanover's Girls Tennis Head Coach Peter Alvarenga for serving as the Site Administrator at both events.

If you are interested in supporting girls tennis, the match is scheduled for 4:00pm this afternoon.
