Express ER Harker Heights hosts annual back-to-school bash HARKER HEIGHTS — Express ER Harker Heights brought the community together at its annual back-to-school bash on Saturday morning.

: We’ve been under a heat advisory for the last several days, issued by the US National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas. Heat index values of 105 or higher are expected to remain through Friday, August 9 at 9 p.m. Please take necessary precautions and stay safe.

: The Friends in Crisis Shelter (412 East Sprott Street) will open as a cooling center any day the forecasted mid-day temperatures exceed 100 degrees, starting at 1 p.m. and staying open overnight. The shelter provides an air-conditioned environment, water, and a meal to anyone in need. For more information, call Friends in Crisis at (254) 245-8269.

: City of Killeen buildings are also open for cooling off during normal business hours. This includes City Hall, libraries, the Family Recreation Center, North Precinct Police Department, Police Headquarters, and more.

Your donations are helping ensure that kids in the community have the supplies they need to start the school year off right!

We will be raffling off 100 backpacks FILLED with school supplies at our upcoming event this Saturday from 11-1 pm!
