The donation and transplant community is coming together today to honor and celebrate the donor heroes who have given the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation. We extend our deepest gratitude to South Texas Health System and Texas Organ Sharing Alliance for inviting us to the Candle Light Vigil on Donor Remembrance Day. It was a profound and moving experience to come together and honor organ, tissue, and eye donors, as well as their families.

We are humbled to have been part of such a meaningful event and express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in organizing and participating in the vigil. Together, we honor and remember the donors who have given the gift ofilife, hope, and healing to countless individuals and families.

Today is Living Donor Day and we are celebrating living organ and tissue donors for saving and healing lives! In 2023, 6,953 people made the decision to give one of their kidneys or a part of their liver to someone waiting for a second chance at life. Others gave the healing gift of birth tissue—birth tissue includes tissues such as placenta and amniotic membrane. Grafts derived from birth tissue help wounds heal. Today we honor those who served. We thank you for your bravery and commitment to our country. 🇺🇸

This weekend we were blessed with the opportunity to donate some Thanksgiving ham’s and turkey’s to the South Texas Afghanistan Iraq Veteran Association. These turkey’s and ham’s were distributed to local veterans in the area.

and celebrate the lives of our dearly departed.

We want to thank the Museum of South Texas History for allowing us to be apart of this celebration. This year our altar is a tribute to the tissue donors from 2022. These individuals share one thing in common—their generous gift changed the lives of so many.

The alter will be on display until November 5th for any families that would like to visit the altar.
