Part of the SGA leadership team took a trip to DC to explore government at the national level. We are inspired to continue to serve the student body and can’t wait to keep working with each member in our organization to make a difference in this 109th Senate!! Go dukes!

- 1 Student Resident: Parking Advisory
- 1 Non-traditional Student: Parking Advisory
- 1 Out-of-state Student: Residential Advisory

On March 8 from 6-8pm, come to TDU to watch our candidates for Student Body President, Student Body Vice President, Executive Treasurer, and Student Representative to the Board of Visitors talk about their campaign platforms.

If you can’t make it to TDU, you can tune in to the Breeze TV to catch a stream of the debate!

Are you struggling to get through midterms and need a little pick-me-up? Our University Services committee will be on Warner Commons from 5-6pm on March 7 handing out goodies!

Join us for the discussion with CMSS’s very own Kwyn Townsend as we take on the topic of allyship and how to advocate and show support for others!

Are you interested in getting involved in the community? Volunteer at STEM Day at Valley Mall on Saturday, February 25 from 10am-3pm!

STEM day allows the community to be actively involved with our student presenters and provides educational experiences for community children and educated parents on various careers and professions related to STEM.

This past week, members of our Legislative Affairs committee, as well as general SGA members, travelled to Richmond to do advocacy work for JMU. We had a plethora of meetings with delegates and senators to discuss student well being, the cost of being a student, and on/off campus safety. Whether it be on campus or in Richmond, SGA will continue to be your voice!

You can run for any of our elected positions, including Student Body President, Vice President, Student Representative to the Board of Visitors and more including class council or academic senator positions!

The James Madison University community is at a loss with the recent passing of Dr. Tatiana Benjamin. She had such important work and her legacy at JMU will live on through the programs she was involved with and the students she impacted.

We encourage you to reach out to some of the resources we have listed if you were affected by her passing.

On Tuesday, the Senate of the Student Government Association voted to pass Resolution 17.

This resolution serves to increase Narcan availability on campus in an effort to aid in potential life-saving situations.

We would like to wish everyone a very happy first day of Black History Month!

Keep in mind that Black History is not just significant for one month out of the year - it is something to keep in mind every day, so always be proud of who you are and where you come from.

This serves as the official statement from the 108th James Madison University student senate in regard to Tyre Nichols.
