Dairy Farm in Hartford with Raw Cow's Milk, Fresh Butter, Eggs, Livestock, Vegs., and plant sales. We are Dreamland Farms LLC. that we sell and eat.
We've milked for awhile but this is the first season we have a milk room!!! πMy husband, Oliver Winship grew up on a multi-generational dairy farm and does AI for cattle locally. I grew up in a culture of DIY so I do a lot of breads, noodles, etc. We as a family have two forever kids and we currently are resource parents for two more. We continue to grow, learn, and live our dream - hence the name of our farm. π₯°
If you don't see the dash lights on or know about the trailer then one could possibly think this is kinda cool.
Ha. Ha. Ha. π€ͺ
Restock alert:
Fresh milk and eggs from this morning in the fridge.
The generator has been on all morning so the fridge is on; the milk is ready to go. Easy lunch is milk and cereal π
Check out what we are doing while the power is out ... Hanging out in the back room making bowl covers. π Isn't it pretty!
Bees are one of the coolest things we've had here. π₯° They didn't produce a lot of honey this year but that's okay - we are thankful for what they do for our garden.
I understand that's not God in the photo. Also, that's not a real conversation... But it's funny. π
Y'all seeing the Northern Lights in the sky tonight?
Last week we took 15 to Smedberg's Farm and they sold quick! This week we may have gone overboard and made too many. Hopefully not, ... go get the bread! It's delicious and homemade.
π¨New product alert π¨
We have now started carrying bread from Dreamland Farm located in Hartford, ME! This week we are stocked with their Cinnamon bread and it is delicious! π
What is better than one apple pie?!
Why do I can water? ... To take up empty space. (This helps so jars don't move while the water is boiling.)
A black bunny is an excellent accessory to your black outfit. π₯°
We have a butcher date in the beginning of December. One of the steers we are sending is unclaimed. If you're looking for 1/2 or a whole beef please send us a message. You pick the cuts; they'll be going to Castonguay's in Livermore Falls - you're responsible for the butcher fees but we can deliver to the butcher.
Fed: Hay & Grain (Grain is from Crane Brothers in Canton)
We went from a very dead looking plant to a plant that has beautiful flowers again. π₯°
How? We keep watering it with water that had a banana peel soaked in it.
It's a great day to swing by and get yourself some bread, milk, or eggs.
(Beef, cream cheese, butter, rabbit, etc. in the fridge too.)
One of our tricks to ...
How we make our pizza sauce.
We put the tomatoes in the freeze dryer which removes the water but doesn't cook them; meaning no nutrients are lost in this process. I understand our society likes to cook everything to death but really we aren't doing ourselves any favors with all that heat. It takes about 2-3 days in the freeze dryer to get the tomatoes "dry".
We intentionally grow Roma tomatoes here. We've found we use our tomatoes for pizza sauce the most, some spaghetti sauce, and a few tomato sandwiches or just to eat them whole. Roma's have a sweet delicious flavor with the least amount of water making them easier to use for pizza sauce. We've had some tommy toe tomatoes pop in this year and kept those. We don't like to say no to volunteer plants.
After they've been freeze dried we powder them. This allows us to have the seeds, skins, and meat of the tomato in the pizza sauce. A lot of valuable minerals are within the skins and seeds. Using our previous method (victorian strainer) these would be removed. Now it's all a powder. No one knows the difference.
So now we have a bunch of powdered tomato and seasonings but need to get this into a paste or pizza sauce. Last year we would add water into the pot to thicken it. This year we've decided to add blended tomatoes into the pot and it works out great!
Typically I do like to have the ingredients simmer in a large pot for 1-2 hours on a low heat. This will bring the flavors together to make a delicious pizza sauce.
..and that's how we make pizza sauce quick.
Apple pie season. π We've made two quick pies this week already. Now to make another one that's pretty... π€· Or does it really matter if they are gone before the end of the day?!

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
