H.B 5436 Teacher Certification, has passed with FLYING colors out of the House and on to the Senate. Current Policy Comparison: Old vs. New 👇
1) Three tiers of certification with frequent recertification costs —> Two tiers of certification with longer periods between recertification
2) Certification for grades 1-6 and 7-12 making staffing difficult —> Certification for grades PreK-6 and 4-12 creating greater flexibility
3) Confusing, unclear routes for interested individuals to enter the professional —> Three distinct, streamlined pathways to entry
4) Entire process in slow, arcane regulations ——> Certification standards board consistently reviews and keepers system modernized
The evidence is in the data!
