Recovery from addiction is an ongoing process that can extend for years or even a lifetime. Having a network of allies can contribute to sustained success in recovery by providing ongoing support and a sense of belonging.

07/18/2024

Recovery often involves rebuilding one's social connections and rebuilding trust with loved ones. Allies can play a pivotal role in helping individuals rebuild and strengthen their relationships.

Allies can learn much about the recovery process just be being there for someone and helping to support another’s journey. The rewards of service can benefit us all!

Did you know, July 17th is World Emoji Day? Emojis can help convey tone and emotion, which can sometimes be difficult through text. Emjois can help foster more meaninful connections.

Just like emojis, The Feelings Wheel originally developed by Dr. Gloria Wilcox to facilitate better verbalization, is a tool that we at CCAR reference often. It is even a module in our newest curriculum, the Advanced Academy for Recovery Coaches.

The Feelings Wheel is composed of the most core feelings in the inner-most wheel. You can determine your feelings from the core emotion or moving from the outside in noticing words that resonate with you.

How are you feeling today? πŸ€”

Allies can provide practical assistance, such as helping with transportation to treatment, assisting with daily responsibilities, or offering financial support. These forms of support can remove obstacles that might otherwise hinder recovery.

07/15/2024

Addiction is often associated with stigma and shame. Having allies who are supportive and nonjudgmental can help reduce the stigma and create a safe space for individuals to seek help and share their experiences.

07/14/2024

Allies can be instrumental in identifying signs of struggle and intervene or provide support when necessary. They can help individuals develop strategies to cope and provide that extra motivation when times get tough.

07/14/2024

It is never too early to plan ahead.

Take a look at our upcoming August training opportunities.

07/13/2024

Allies can help hold individuals accountable for their recovery goals and commitments. Knowing that others are invested in their well-being can motivate individuals to set and achieve their goals.

07/12/2024

Allies, such as friends, family members, or support groups, can provide emotional support and encouragement to individuals in recovery. Addiction can be a lonely and isolating experience, and having people who understand and care about one's recovery journey can make a significant difference.

At CCAR we welcome ANYONE into our training programs and events. There is no prerequisite of personal lived experience. We know addiction impacts more than those who are struggling. Recovery is all about connection – so why would we limit who is member of our community? We are all part of the same TEAM - Together, Everyone Achieves More!

Over the next week, check out why it is important to include allies in the addiction recovery community?
