The 2024 IPATA Regional Meetings have concluded. IPATA's ongoing goal of encouraging communication, exploration, and collaboration with airline partners was further strengthened as IPATA President-Elect Dr. Gerry Pahl and IPATA Past President Simon Jackson introduced the IPATA Brachycephalic (Snub-nosed) Program to attendees of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) World Cargo Symposium, held March 12-14 in Hong Kong.

The WCS is the largest and most prestigious air cargo annual event, with an estimated 1250 plus delegates attending.
IPATA's ongoing goal of encouraging communication, exploration and creating an environment of collaboration with airline partners was further strengthened as IPATA President- Elect, Dr. Gerry Pahl and IPATA Past President Simon Jackson introduced the IPATA BOAS Program to attendees of the IATA World Cargo Symposium that was held March 12-14 in Hong Kong.
During the three-day exhibition, IPATA made new contacts and encouraged membership to Airline and Cargo Industries attendees, offering marketing materials highlighting IPATA pet shippers and the value of membership; information on Airline partners and their importance in pet shipping; and IPATA's newest Brachycephalic Program and Certification designed to identify those snub-nosed dogs that are at high risk of obstructed or hampered breathing when transported by air. This program will allow more animals to safely fly and identify those that shouldn't.
The International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA) Past President, Simon Jackson Spoke on the Gold Standard Delivery in Pet Shipping at the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Hong Kong held in March.
His presentation included an overview of the IPATA BOAS program and Fit to Fly certification, based on years of research and designed to identify those snub-nosed dogs that are at high risk of obstructed or hampered breathing when transported by air. This program will allow more animals to safely fly and identify those that shouldn't.
Mr. Jackson also touched on recent research and domestic pet shipping trends as well as the end consumer’s expectations and how ensuring this expectation is tied to full delivery and mitigating the risks before, during, and after the journey.

Dr. Melisa Grisolle Awarded Excellence Award at IPATA International Conference DUBAI
The International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA), the world's pet shipping experts, honored Dr. Melisa Grisolle of PetWings Peru with the 2023 Excellence Award at its International Conference.
IPATA’s Excellence Award recognizes someone who has made outstanding efforts in public service initiatives and contributes to the ongoing improvement of animal welfare with a substantial impact on humanitarian or animal welfare efforts.
“Melisa’s colleagues applaud her work with the Brachycephalic (BOAS) Research and Development Committee,” says Hazel Imrie, IPATA President. “She is a tremendous asset to animal welfare and her excellent communications skills translate the importance of the application of the certification among veterinarians, as well as ensuring that airlines will allow the shipment of more breeds.”

Chris Filippelli Recognized with 2023 Best Operational Service Provider Award at IPATA International Conference in Dubai
IPATA’s Best Operational Service Provider Award honors an individual who provides operational service that is consistently an inspiration to the pet shipping industry and its members. The award recognizes an individual that exemplifies professionalism, empathy, compassion, efficient response, accuracy of information and customer service.
“Chris is responsive to pet shippers and their clients and is always willing to go the extra mile,” says Hazel Imrie, IPATA President. “I continually receive extraordinary feedback about him going above and beyond the call of duty. Chris’s outstanding communication skills are appreciated and have had a positive impact on our industry.”

IPATA’s Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to IPATA or the safe and humane transportation of pets.
“As a former IPATA Board Member and a team leader to fellow pet shippers, Jeni has dedicated her life to animal welfare and has made this a priority in all that she does,” says Hazel Imrie, IPATA President. “She has high ethical standards, doesn’t cut corners, faces challenges head on and provides sound advice to team members, putting the pets’ needs first and foremost.”

IPATA Recognized Dr. Gerry Pahl with the Millie Woolf Memorial Leadership Award at Annual International Conference in Dubai
IPATA’s Millie Woolf Memorial Leadership Award recognizes someone who advances the education and professionalism of safe and humane animal transportation. This is IPATA’s most prestigious award, and it’s presented in memory of Millie Woolf, one of the founders of IPATA.
“Gerry’s leadership of IPATA’s R&D Task Force is exemplary,” says Hazel Imrie, IPATA President and colleague. “He has been instrumental in working with this task force, stakeholders and the airlines to promote the developed ‘Fit-to-Fly’ program. Dr. Pahl is a professional veterinarian with over 25 years of experience and the Managing Director of PetExportVet, one of Hong Kong's leading veterinary clinic chains.
