Starlink Mission 03/21/2022

On Saturday, March 19 at 12:42 a.m. ET, Falcon 9 launched 53 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, completing the first twelfth launch and landing of an orbital class rocket booster.

This Falcon 9 first stage booster previously launched Dragon’s first crew demonstration mission, the RADARSAT Constellation Mission, SXM-7, and now nine Starlink missions.

Starlink 09/16/2021

Starlink is now delivering initial beta service both domestically and internationally, and will continue expansion to near global coverage of the populated world in 2021.

During beta, users can expect to see data speeds vary from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to 40ms in most locations over the next several months as we enhance the Starlink system. There will also be brief periods of no connectivity at all.

As we launch more satellites, install more ground stations and improve our networking software, data speed, latency and uptime will improve dramatically.

Starlink SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities a...

Starship | SN15 | High-Altitude Flight Test 09/16/2021

As early as Wednesday, May 5, the SpaceX team will attempt a high-altitude flight test of Starship serial number 15 (SN15) – our fifth high-altitude flight test of a Starship prototype from Starbase in Texas. SN15 has vehicle improvements across structures, avionics and software, and the engines that will allow more speed and efficiency throughout production and flight: specifically, a new enhanced avionics suite, updated propellant architecture in the aft skirt, and a new Raptor engine design and configuration.

For the first time, a group of four private citizens — and zero professional astronauts — will climb into SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft to launch into space. This is SpaceX's fourth crewed mission, but instead of astronauts representing NASA and its international partners, the passengers will be four regular people.

All previous orbital space tourism flights (and planned such missions with announced crews) have included at least one professional astronaut to guide the passengers through the drama of launch, microgravity and landing.

Inspiration4 is named in recognition of the four-person crew that will raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This will be the third flight of Falcon 9 booster B1062 which previously supported GPS III SV04 and GPS III SV05 missions. Crew Dragon Resilience will make it second time to the orbit as it previously supported Demo-1 mission. SpaceX drone ship ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’ will act as the floating landing pad for the Falcon 9 about 9 minutes after launch.
