Actions have consequences however undeterminable they may be in the moment. Regardless of intention you get to own those consequences and no amount of self pity will free you from them. Get up. Dust yourself off. Move forward. No one is gonna save you but you.

Happiness is not a destination you reach at the end of the road least traveled, most traveled, or otherwise. The pursuit of happiness through the acquisition of “things” is a eternally frustrating endeavor. Happiness is a temporary emotional extreme that always returns to center, much as a rising object falls back to earth. The pursuit of peace through acceptance and mindfulness of the moment is much more rewarding, and infinitely easier to maintain.

Who you have been, what you have done… is in the past. Who will you be now?

One of the worst things you can do to someone you care about, is give them reason to doubt themselves.

Meditation is not what you think. Literally of course… but also any preconceived notions you may have about studying with monks for 50+ years to finally achieve enlightenment or whatever. Meditation is simply the awareness of now. Both formally with intention in stillness and silence, and informally in every day life as you live in the moment.

Tomorrow marks the Lughnasadh Fèiss (Lùnastal in Gaelic) otherwise known as the Harvest Feast. Those who follow the old gods honor the god Lugh. He is associated with skill and mastery, as well as oaths, truth, and the law. We have no hills or mountains here in central Florida to climb, but I can visit one of the local springs as a tribute to a gathering at the well.

If you’re unable to determine why someone has been placed in your path, consider the opposing view. Perhaps you were placed in theirs.

Are then we made up of three parts? Mind, Body, and Spirit? Which of these is dominant for you? Are you more of the mind? Do you react and respond logically and with reason on the whole? Are you more of the body? Do react and respond passionately and with emotion on the whole? Or do you operate primarily from the third? Do you react from a space where you may respectfully observe and understand both the mind and body, and respond with authentic self on the whole?

Everyone has a different path… how do you measure success?
