The honest truth is that fishing around here has been really tough. Lingering summer heat has not released its grip. More floating weeds than ever. More pressure than ever. There are very few insects to entice a trout to feed, and yet we are still able to scratch out a few good ones. This fishing is not for those who need immediate satisfaction or success. Don't bother calling or inquiring about a fall booking. That ship has sailed. It's time to hit the woods for some hunting, maybe some football.

So very happy for all parties involved with this transaction. One I will never forget. Grateful.

Still in awe. Fly caught Northern Pike. 44.5 inches. Likely 20+ years old. Could not have been caught by a more deserving friend and angler. Congrats for taming the beast.

If you can run from clouds that look like this, you might want to consider it.

I like 2 footers, and I can not lie. Many fish were looking up today. Congratulations to Dan for getting your fish to eat a small dry fly. Not an easy operation to pull off. Roger with the walk-off two footer. One of the better days at the old Gates of the Mountains. Thanks and for setting this up. There is no need to travel to Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, Alaska, or the like. We have some mighty fine Trout fishing right here in the 406.

Misty Missouri River morning turned into a terrific day. Acres of rising trout. Congrats to Lauren for making the cast, set, play/fight, and net all come together.

Busy Saturday. So many things. This will be interesting.

Fun morning checking in on my Avon listing. This property gets better every time I visit. Today was due diligence day for the fishing on Snowshoe Creek. I was happily surprised to find the fishing better than expected. The highlight was a 16-inch Brown that had swallowed a whole mouse. I noticed something odd hanging out of the fishes mouth. After a quick inspection, I recognized that I was looking at a mouse tail.(unfortunately no picture) As a lifelong fisherman, this made me smile.

IYKYN. Once every 5 years, I golf. Today was that day. Golf is hard.

Last week in the sleet and rain. The weather was lousy, but the fish seemed pretty happy.

Went out and caught myself a limit of Walleye. A nice break from Trout monotony. Huge bonus of having multiple delicious meals. Feeling pretty fortunate to live in an area where catching dinner is normal.

A few more from the recent trip. Estancia Despedida, Tierra del Fuego..lodge Jurrasic Lake Lodge Patagonia. Why not both. Biggest Browns and Rainbows that swim.

Brown trout are just built different. Argentina on the brain.
