4th grade had so much fun at Disneyland. We learned about the technology they use for the Tiki room and the Smugglers Run ride. The students also got to learn how to code their own fireworks show.
4th grade are engineering wind turbines as a source of renewable energy.
We would like to thank all parents and HPD who came out and participated in our annual 5th grade vs teacher Matball game.

4th grade GATE students learned about force and motion and created pinball machines. They recorded podcast to explain how Newton’s laws of motions and different forces were at play
in their pinball machines. Other classes enjoyed getting to test them out.

Thank you all for the amazing Nevada Reading Week here at Walker! We had many visitors, helpers, and activities throughout the week in celebration.
A special thanks to our guest readers throughout the library this week: Henderson Police Officer Martin, Foothill HS Football Players, The Flores Family, Galleria Orthodontics, Girls Scouts of Nevada, Ms. Porreca, Christi Williams, CCSD Office Lord, Henderson Libraries, and Mrs. Moeller. We appreciate the time you all took out of your day to come read and answer questions about your jobs.
Our annual Books and Breakfast event this morning had a great turn out! Thank you to all the helping hands that went into making it a success; Ms. Honey, Ms. Nichols, Ms. Banko, Ms. Aleman, Mr. Roberts, Ms. Sargeant, Mrs. Moeller, Ms. Connie, Mrs. Beal, Mr. McGaha, and Ms. Newman.

Hey Everyone! reminder that our annual free Books & Breakfast event is this Friday, March 8th. You can come any time between 7-8:40 to enjoy breakfast and each student gets a free book. Students must be accompanied by an adult & cannot go to their classrooms until the bell rings at 8:40. See you all there!

The VGK came to read to 3rd and 4th grade for Nevada Reading week!
Congratulations to our Walker VEX Robotics team. They both competed in the NV elementary state competition today and did awesome. We are very proud. The 5th grade team won the Inspire award which is presented to the team that inspires the judges with their passion for the competition and positivity at the event. The 4th grade team won the Excellence award which recognizes overall excellence in both the judged categories as well as the performance categories. By winning the Excellence award the 4th grade team has qualified to represent Nevada at the Worlds Robotics Competition in Texas. A special thanks to our amazing coaches Ms. Davis and Mrs. Craig for guiding and supporting our kids. Go Eagles!
We wrote letters to President Biden telling him about light pollution and how it is affecting our state. He wrote us back. The student's were super excited to know that their concerns were heard.

Walker Master Builders ended the 23-24 FLL season at the Southern Nevada State Championship! They did an amazing job and ended in 3rd place for the Robot Game! Thank you Coach Chapin for preparing the students and thank you Coach Thurman for coming back to support us!

Kindergarten had a field trip to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum
Walker Robotics hosted an event today. Both teams did well making it to finals. 5th grade placed 5th and 4th grade placed 4th in finals. 4th grade won the Design Award for having a detailed engineering notebook explaining the design process and top interview. Congratulations Walker Robotics! Thank you to all the volunteers, former students and families for helping this even happen at Walker!
Candy Grams for sale!
Walker’s FIRST LEGO League team competed in the Southern NV Qualifier event today. They placed 8th in Robot Game and received 2nd place for Robot Design. Mrs. Thurman also received the coaches award! The team will move onto the Southern NV State competition on January 27th.
