It's Fun Fact Friday! 💡 Did you know that National Park Service buildings were designed in a cohesive style known as "parkitecture"?

In 1918, NPS guidelines were issued requiring that “in the construction of roads, trails, buildings... particular attention must be devoted always to the harmonizing of these improvements with the landscape" by using natural and unrefined materials like whole logs and stone. This design became known as NPS Rustic, or as it's more affectionately known, 'parkitecture.'

Famous examples in the West include the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone (pictured), the Ahwahnee in Yosemite, Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier, and El Tovar in the Grand Canyon.

The 77,500-capacity venue was used for the 1932 and 1984 games and is preparing for 2028, when it will be the site of thrilling track and field events. The Olympics will return to the Western U.S. in 2034, when the winter games are once again in Salt Lake City, Utah.
