Thursday we will be displaying an Aerovault at the Legends of The Autobahn and Saturday we'll be at Concorso Italiano! No surprise, Aerovault trailers passed their bi-annual NATM (Nat'l Assoc of Trailer Manufacturers) quality/regulation certification inspection with flying colors. The NATM inspectors always praise the quality of the Aerovaults and the attention to details.

The inspector let us know the NATM recently issued the following bulletin about weld quality failures on trailers and how they are thankful for our due diligence in how this has never applied to Aerovaults!

"For the last several months, NATM has received complaints regarding the weld quality of trailers. While the issue of weld quality is not part of the NATM Compliance Verification Program (CVP) nor regulated by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, NATM wants to ensure its members are aware of consumer needs and concerns. Weld failures are the primary concern reported by end-users to NATM. The Association and its Technical Team acknowledge that this issue will consistently be the top complaint because weld failures are an inherent aspect of trailer usage, attributed to continuous flexing and movement."

Let it be noted that, although common in the industry, no Aerovault has ever suffered from a weld failure 😀

Here's another take on Aerovault colors... Satin White Aluminum which matches the owners Mercedes SUV tow vehicle!

It was an unusually cold, windy and rainy Saturday night in Vegas when this commercial Aerovault left our facility. It even hailed while being connected. An hour down the road this weather turned into snow. Even so, this Aerovault will be delivered to its owner in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Lots of weather out there this time of year. Take care everyone!

This Aerovault is on a midnight ride. Flagstaff tonight. Shreveport tomorrow night. Then delivering to its new owner in Stuart, FL the next day. Transporter will be back Saturday to pickup an aerovault being delivered in Pennsylvania Monday. As the transporter left Aerovault HQ just now, a smile came across his face as he said, "it'll be a great week towing aerovaults as i don't have to worry about blowing wind or blowing tires" 😃

We went to the National Assoc of Trailer Manufacturer's Convention last week which includes industry seminars and supplier exhibits. We know, and it’s common knowledge, most trailers are junk. It's why we decided to build our own trailer for ourselves, and why at a time in life when we should be reading a good book on a beach, we decided to build our great Aerovaults for you too. We make it a point to focus on the positive but we have to share just a couple of the jaw dropping things we learned in detail about other trailers.

The first pic is of an exhibitor’s display showing the high quality of their trailer doors. OMG… wood, foam, staples? This is what they displayed as an example of their BEST doors. The 2nd pic is of course an Aerovault door. Solid 1/8” marine/aircraft grade aluminum. Lighter and practically indestructible.

Second, a fortunate 500 company held a seminar sharing their findings on different trailer construction techniques. No surprise, the high quality semi-monocoque design like the Aerovault was not mentioned (we're the only ones that build this way and no one else is going to spend the money to do so). One method tested was the traditional stick frame with thin coil metal spread across the frame. They found the screws used to secure the thin veneer to the frame fail, on average, in 36,000 miles. 36,000 miles this kind of trailer will be falling apart and the only way to repair it is to insert larger screws as the screw holes are now stripped.

Last item we’ll share, which just happened today and we’ve touched on previously, is quality of tires and the importance of wheel/tire balancing. Gayle spoke with a supplier we get wheels from. The rep said they could also provide us our tires and deliver them mounted to their wheels. Gayle asked about balancing and they said rarely does anyone ask for that but that they could do it. Gayle sent them the specs of our wheels and tires this weekend to get a quote. The rep came back today and said they only sell their own tires and would we be willing to change from our Carlisle tires to their tires. Gayle looked up their tires online and found they are only speed rated to 75 mph where the Carlisle tires we use are rated to 87 mph. Gayle pointed this out to the rep and said we’ve had good experiences with the Carlisle’s and we need the speed rating. Typical, but still shocking to hear/see, the rep replied: “Hello Gayle, our tires are speed rated at 75mph. I’m not sure why anyone would want to tow faster than that.” Gayle’s response: “Legal speed limit in both UT and TX is 80 mph. Aerovaults tow seamlessly at those speeds, and higher, which is also why wheel/tire balance is important." She also shared with the rep: "I had an owner tell me two weeks ago that a family member was injured at a track (not racing) and they couldn’t stop the bleeding from a head injury. Track medics told him the fastest way to get the person to the hospital that was 30 miles away, was to take him himself. He said he was going down the highway over 100 mph and said the Aerovault was tracking like it wasn’t there. He said he would have gone faster but his truck had a speed limiter on it. We gotta have a tire that can handle it!”

Don’t compromise people. Your Aerovault will last you a lifetime and during your life it will provide you great handling, safety, fuel efficiency and best of all, be a joy to tow while being a trailer you’re proud to say is yours.

Look who came to visit us with her transporter this week... "Dove" 🥰 One of our regular transporters works with Bull Terrier rescue groups across the country. As a transporter he is in a perfect position to transport rescued dogs to new owners in the safety of a kennel in the back seat of his truck and he socializes them along the way.

He introduced us to 6 month old Dove who was rescued out of CA and he was taking to her new owner in TX, where he was also delivering an Aerovault to its new owner. He welcomed all of us to come out and visit with her, give her a treat to teach her people are nice to be around, and pet her to get used to human touch. The new Aerovault owner in TX got to meet her as well.

Dove is a beauty and had quickly bonded to the transporter, who owns 3 Bull Terriers himself, and sent us a pic of her frolicking on a hotel bed during their overnight stay in West TX. She weighs 42 pounds (3 times the weight of Kit) and will add on about another 20 pounds when full grown at about 14 months. Bull Terriers are part Dalmatian so this all white dog is rare with only one tiny black spot on one ear.

Perfect timing as the Western Veterinary Conference in Vegas started today. Gayle will be seeing her UC Davis Veterinarian friends at a reception Monday evening.

And the hammer goes down as this Aerovault Black sells on Bring A Trailer for $46,000! (does not include sales/buyer fees). We often tell people that if they ever go to sell they can very likely get what they paid, if not more. It's true.

MT owner: "They are the best! I tow my Aerovault with a 1/2 ton Ram and the best thing about these is the directional stability when passing and being passed. The trailer does not get pulled into the airstream of either. Big trucks do that to all of my “normal” trailers, and 2 miles to the gallon improvement in my Ram."

UT owner: "As I mentioned earlier, I just bought one of these new (L version) and they tow amazing… especially at speed. Loading is fast and easy . I had a taller aluminum ‘box’ trailer prior and can tell you there is no comparison. No need for a big tow vehicle either."

CA owner: "I have one of these – as many have said, nothing tows better. My F150 Ecoboost is overkill for pulling this trailer."

TX owner: "I have a red aerovault and it is a wonderful trailer. I have towed it all across the country."

KY owner: "I have one of these, excellent quality. My Corvette Z06 fits tight, my Ferrari 488GTB fits better."

FL owner: "I’ve had mine for 7 years and 50K miles later still loving it. Tow with 2014 Audi Q7 TDI and average 17 MPG diesel at 75 MPH. I’ve had a 356, 993, 924 and 911S in it. Yeah, I’m a air-cooled Porsche guy."

WA owner: "I have a MkII Aerovault that I purchased new in 2016. I tow with my wife’s Toyota Highlander without any problems. It is complete quality and the Brocks are super folks. Great product and service. Mine still looks new even though I store it uncovered."

CO owner: "Great trailers- got mine from Peter last spring. I have the extended version. Sure tows nicely and be prepared for lots of questions at the gas station. Many think you have an airplane inside… outside."

UT owner: "These are amazing trailers with unmatched build quality! This thing even has a full belly pan!!!"

CT owner: "I have this model from 2022 and I put my 2004 Porsche GT3 (built out as a cup car) in it. I have a set of wheels with rain tires above and below the front bench, and there is room behind the car for5 VP gas cans. I don’t have the toolbox on the tongue, but there is room to store a floor jack and other misc items in the trailer. With it loaded as such (empty gas cans, 2500 # car, spare wheels) I have the tongue weight about 400+ Lbs and no real sway while driving.

I tow with either an ’18 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 class B motorhome, or a 2014 Ram 1500 with the Hemi. Acceleration is much better with the Ram, but the Sprinter tows it beautifully. Either will maintain 80 mph down I-5, but I usually set the cruise at 72.
It is a beautifully built trailer that will last a very long time. It loads easily and gets lots of admiration. I’m 6′ 2″ and rarely think I need the taller version."

And just a nice comment about Peter Brock's bona fides... "Pete was a major contributor to Hang Glider technology and design in the ’70s and a pilot, car designer, racer, engineer, editor, author, etc. He’s made a difference!"

It turns out one of Peter Brock's Favorite Things (a play on words with one of the playlists on his youtube channel) is this impressive Nikola hydrogen-powered truck. It came to visit our equally impressive and fuel-efficient Aerovault trailers. They're all having a sleepover tonight.

Will we see you at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale? We hit the road early next Thursday (1/18) for load-in. Show opens Saturday 1/20 and goes more than a week, thru to the following Sunday 1/28.

Our Aerovault exhibit area is easy to find as it's right at Stage Out where the cars come off the auction block and head back out of the auction tent after being sold.

We will have an Aerovault on display and several of our books there for sale. Peter Brock wil be there Sat 1/20 thru Tue 1/23 and then heads back to Vegas for other commitments so be sure to stop by those days if you'd like your book signed or let us know in advance and we'll have it signed before he leaves. Greetings and Happy 2024 Aerovault owners and fans! We've been doing some restructuring of our websites and youtube pages over the holidays. Some changes you'll see and some you won't as they are behind the scenes. One change is that we now have an Aerovault Youtube channel separate from the PeterBrocksWorld channel where we have Aerovault videos as a Playlist. We're in the process of populating the Aerovault Youtube channel and we'll post videos here as they are placed on it. The video posted last night is a Yarn Test showing the great aerodynamics of the Aerovault as it passes 18 wheelers on the highway. Enjoy this quick, less than 2 minute video, that speaks volumes about the Aerovault's aerodynamics.

This has been the best year ever at Aerovault. After years of struggle, we can't say there aren't still challenges but we take them in stride. Been there, done that, can't be worse than when # # # happened 😮

What has really made the difference this year is the team. We have a talented, drama-free team that believes in the same high level of quality that we do. They are here because they take pride in their work and they can not only work to their high standards here but they can see the finished product and hear the wonderful testimonials we get from owners.

To celebrate where the company is, Gayle hired a professional photographer two weeks ago to come inside Aerovault and document two days of activities. She also had on her shoot list, to take portraits of the guys. We shared this video with them last week during our company holiday party. They were mesmerized, then they swelled with pride, then they started joking around about the experience of having a pro shooter follow them around for two days.

Happy Holidays everyone! We just got back from our annual Aerovault/BRE karting holiday party. We had a private room for lunch at the facility and Gayle put together and ran a slideshow on a big screen of photos of the shop and the guys working which was a great hit.

She also selected a portrait of each person and printed and framed them and gave them to each, many of who said they were going to wrap it and give it to their other half as a gift. Exactly what Gayle had hoped as she suspected these guys have never had their photo taken professionally. Our special thanks to Evan Klein who spent two days with us last week doing a professional shoot of Aerovault (great photos to come). Here are some (non-professional) photos of the fun today.

Eye candy Friday is back thanks to photographer extraordinaire Evan Klein. Evan was here to do a shoot when Gayle mentioned she was taking an Aerovault out for a test run. She does this prior to an Aerovault being picked up to ensure the wheels and tires have been balanced properly. Evan asked if he and his assistant could follow along. Here is what special things can happen on a short test run!
