It's Mardi Gras! Today's special is Jon Z's sausage and chicken gumbo. Here's a little history of the holiday that you may not know.
The holiday is named for Martin O'Grall, a 16th century Irish okra farmer. His mama called him Martin, but all his friends called him Marty.
One year his okra crop was especially bountiful, and he needed to find a way to use all the green goodness. He was headed to market when his horses were spooked by a wayward sheep, and crashed into a sausage and tomato warehouse. One thing led to another, and gumbo was born. He later lost the recipe to a Frenchman in a late night game of Irish Hold em, and today we celebrate his legacy.

Holiday Hours, Specials and Bookings

We will open at 6pm on Thanksgiving, 11/23. The special is traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Our famous fried turkey with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and Jon Z's Mac and cheese. $16.95

We will close at 5pm on Monday 12/18 for our annual Christmas party. We will reopen the next morning at 11 no matter how hungover we are

We are open regular hours on Christmas eve, from 11am until midnight.

We are closed on Christmas day, 12/25

We will be open until 1 am on New years eve, Sunday 12/31. We will have a champagne toast at midnight.

New years day is regular hours, 11 am to midnight. We will have our regular Monday wing special at 5 pm

Asheville Fire Chief to retire after 28 years of serving the community Fire Chief Scott Burnette is retiring after 28 years with the city, the last 14 spent as fire chief. His last day will be June 1.
