Great job team!

Congrats to our latest MVPs - Captain Billy Ray Praytor, Firefighter John Perez, Firefighter Dalton Schell, and Engineer Dylan Bishop!
🚒
On 7/5/04, Hendersonville Fire Department responded to a water leak at a home. Engine 9 and Battalion 9 arrived to find water flowing from the door and occupants on the porch.
💦
The crew split up to locate the shutoff inside and outside. They found the leak inside the home and quickly shut off the water. With about 4 inches of water in the bathroom, hallway, and bedrooms, the team used a wet vac and squeegees to remove the water. The Housing Authority arrived to assist, and the firefighters ensured the homeowners knew the next steps.
🏡
The homeowners were very appreciative, and we are too! Thank you for going above and beyond to help this family in their time of need!

The best way to enjoy fireworks and make sure your family stays safe this is to watch a professional show.
🎇
Henderson County's Firework Show will start around 9:00 PM on July 4th at Jackson Park. Look for the big red balloon in the sky on the morning of July 4 to find your viewing spot. If you can see the balloon, you'll be able to see the fireworks.
🎈
We kindly remind everyone that viewing from the Hendersonville parking deck roof is prohibited due to safety regulations. The fireworks launch site will be in Jackson Park and during that time, the park will be closed to the public. For further details visit https://visithendersonvillenc.org/summer-concerts -of-july

🚒🩺 CPR & AED Awareness Week: Be a Lifesaver! 🩺🚒

Did you know that YOU can save a life in an emergency? 🆘❤️

From June 1st to 7th, we're celebrating CPR & AED Awareness Week, and the Hendersonville Fire Department is here to remind you how crucial these skills are. Every second counts when someone is in cardiac arrest, and knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED can make all the difference.

❓ Why is CPR important?

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) keeps blood flowing to vital organs when the heart stops. Immediate CPR can double or even triple a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival.

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are portable devices that can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. They are designed to be simple to use, even for those with no medical background.

👉 How can you help?

🎓 Get trained: Enroll in a CPR/AED course through local community centers or online programs.
✔️ Know the steps: Learn the basic steps of hands-only CPR: Call 911, push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
👀 Locate AEDs: Familiarize yourself with AED locations in public places you frequent.

For more information on training and resources, visit www.heart.org.

Stay safe, Hendersonville! 🚒💪

Great job everyone! 👏

True heroes don't just save lives, they care about plants too!
🌿
Saluting our MVPs, Captain Jacob Thompson, Engineer Tanner McCrain, and Senior Firefighter Riley Fore, for going above and beyond the call of duty.
🚒
During Garden Jubilee a couple experienced a medical emergency. While they were both being transported to the hospital, this crew ensured their wagon of plants and souvenirs had a safe trip back to the owner's vehicle. However, they were unsure of the vehicle's exact location. After visiting several parking lots, the vehicle was located and the souvenirs were secured.
🌳
Thank you for displaying kindness to a couple in need, great job team!

Nominated by a county paramedic, Firefighter Clary's dedication shines bright. Here's what she had to say: "This young man deserves an award - a first in my career. 🌷 Spring is in full swing, and so is the urge to tidy up! Before you dive into spring cleaning, take a moment to brush up on some crucial fire safety tips from your friends at the Hendersonville Fire Department. Here's how to keep your home clean and safe:

⏰ Check your smoke alarms! Test them monthly and replace batteries annually to ensure they're in proper working order.

🗑️ Clear clutter! Keep flammable items like paper, fabric, and cleaning supplies away from heat sources such as stoves, heaters, and candles.

👕 Mind the lint trap! Clean your dryer's lint trap after each use to prevent buildup, reducing the risk of a dryer fire.

🔒 Properly store chemicals! Store household cleaners, paints, and other chemicals in a cool, dry place away from heat sources, and never mix cleaning agents.

🔌 Watch those cords! Check electrical cords for fraying or damage, and avoid overloading outlets or extension cords.

🏡 Plan your escape! Make sure everyone in your household knows the evacuation plan in case of fire, and practice it regularly.

Remember, a little prevention goes a long way in keeping your home safe. Happy cleaning, Hendersonville! Stay safe out there! 🧹🏠

We expect heavy traffic downtown due to this repair.

Avoid US-64 West / King Street if you are able and watch for crews working in the area.

Traffic Alert - US-64

4/2/24 - 11:30 AM - Duke Energy is completing a repair to a power pole around the intersection of 64 West and N. King Street in front of the Triangle Stop in Downtown Hendersonville. Motorists are requested to avoid the area due to high traffic volume. In order to make the repair, Duke will be shutting down 64 West to one lane of travel. Traffic flowing from King Street or traveling west on US-64 will not be able to proceed on to N. Main Street during the repair.

We recommend motorists approaching downtown from the east side of town to access Asheville Highway/25 N by taking an alternate route via Signal Hill Road / Duncan Hill Road connections.
