My happy place, working with clients that bring me such joy. It has been an emotionally exhausting several weeks for many reasons, but one thing is clear: when I get the chance to work with others, helping to bring balance to their bodies and minds, I also find immense satisfaction and peace.

This dirt water is serious stuff.

Every year or so, I like to cycle off of my supplements to do a reset and figure out which ones my body needs. I did this earlier this year, and when I reintroduced supplements, it was this new fulvic/humic acid from Theon. Along with that, I was going through my Emotion Code training, so I was doing several sessions of trapped emotion clearing at the time.

Here’s how I felt during that time of introducing this:

“Wow. I’ve taken fulvic for a while, but this version is powerful. I can actually feel it working immediately.”

“I’m feeling so clear-headed.”

“I really like the taste of that coffee, but I’m feeling so alert that I don’t need it.”

“Ugh, I’m feeling super lethargic today. What’s up? Oh! I forgot to drink my dirt water!”

“Woah. Life took a huge swing at me. I’m strangely feeling super calm right now.”

Look, I know that everyone reacts differently to supplements. Some, you can actually feel the shift. Some, you have to trust they are working because of the mechanisms of what they do in the body and the bioavailability of that particular version of a supplement. For this fulvic, I’ve found it is a little of both.

I’ve been quietly trying out fulvic acid for the last two years, and I have finally found a brand that lives up to the hype of all that fulvic/humic acid can do!

On the days that I take it, no brain fog.

Overall, I feel mentally stronger.

I am ready to tackle big problems.

I am happier.

But more than anything, I know that I’m giving my body the minerals that it is lacking in a modern diet (even though we eat really clean).

One of the greatest gifts that we can teach our children is how to process their emotions and show them appropriately.

And the reasoning is not just to fit in society. No, the benefits of properly displaying and feeling emotions actually is a health issue.

You see, it's ok to be angry. It's ok to be disappointed. It's ok to cry. It's when we don't allow ourselves to feel those emotions and process them that they become trapped in our bodies. Those lower vibrations keep sending out signals that make it easier to fall into negative emotional traps.

That's why I love the work I've done on energy and emotions, especially with my training on The Emotion Code. These amazing tools can make huge differences on our lives now, and those of our children.

I'm currently taking a waitlist of clients for The Emotion Code. This is a technique for those who are ready to be released of emotional baggage.

To start, you will be signing up for at least 3 sessions, though you may wish to have more sessions after the initial 3.

Years ago, my son saw my essential oil collection and called it my “oil shop.” I then had this cute sign made for it. Fast forward a few years, and I had used a play on this to name my in person aromatherapy studio space

My “oil shop” shelves had two more levels join their ranks this weekend. Now I can find my extra bottles much easier!

For me it all started 8 years ago when a blogging friend reached out to help me with a skin issue that I was having with my son. I didn’t believe in essential oils working, but I asked her questions for months. She looked in her reference books and told me what they said.

Now as a certified aromatherapist and licensed spiritual health coach, I actually understand the science that unlocks some of how these oils work, but my reference books are still so neat and dear to my heart. I have a stack of them ready for new oilers to learn and feel empowered about their family’s health.

Ignore the dirty computer. Instead, look at the screen. My Emotion Code certification is done. Now I wait for them to approve my portfolio and then I can begin to see clients.

To start, I will be taking only five clients with either 3- or 6-session packages.

Why packages? Because I have experienced the benefit of one session, but even more-so, I have seen firsthand what happens when we do several sessions, spaced out with a week or at least several days in between.

I will be working with adults, children, and animals (dogs, cats, or horses). If you would like one of those spots, please comment or reach out and we can discuss the details.

This is something I want you to remember: wellness is not linear.

You must understand that, in order to reverse damage that has been done to your body and mind, you will make corrections. You will detox. You will heal. It's not always a straight line towards health. Sometimes it's messy and uncomfortable and you go down before you go up.

But no matter where you are on the cycle, take some time and say one of these affirmations while smelling your favorite happy oils.

The Neuro-Auricular Technique uses amazing oils:

💧Frankincense for balancing and reprogramming (monoterpenes)
💧Valerian, Vetiver, Cedarwood, and Sandalwood for oxygenation of the brain and ganglia and for deleting misinformation at the level of cellular DNA (sesquiterpenes)
💧Roman Chamomile for emotional releasing (esters)
💧Optional addition of Melissa for dealing with the heart and emotions, especially nervous tension and anxiousness

This technique helps balance the sympathetic vs parasympathetic nervous system. It helps to move from fight/flight/freeze into rest/digest/heal.

Let's take a few moments and breathe! This particular technique is called the Square Breath, and it can help your body and brain in many ways:

- change your body’s energy
- reduce stress
- calm your mind
- step back and reset your energy
- quick and easy to visualize

Another great way to expand your box breathing technique is to practice lengthening the breath over time.

You can do this either by keeping the 4-count practice while gradually slowing down the pace at which you count, or you can work on increasing the count to 6 or 8 seconds for each part of the breath.

Physical touch is one of our basic needs. Yes, it's not food, clothing, or shelter, but touch is the first sense to be developed in utero, followed by scent.

I remember when I was pregnant with my twins, we laughed that my son would tickle my ribs, letting me know he was ok. Even now 8 years later, he responds so positively to the lightest of touches. My daughter was the one who bounced, moved, and kicked my bladder, and she's still just as active today.

In the energy work that I facilitate, I often choose touch as a way to channel, pass, and even out energy. I could do it with my hands hovering, but there is something so comforting, so basic, so life-giving at the gentlest of touch.

A Little Introduction

My name is Dory, and I am a green-living enthusiast. It started about 6 years ago when my infant son started having rashes and eczema all over his skin. While his pediatrician prescribed us with steroid creams (which we used), it didn't feel right to put them all over his body.

We discovered pure essential oils, thanks to a friend introducing us to the Young Living brand. But it took me many more months to actually purchase anything, because I didn't want to buy into the hype of this "crunchy granola movement" or a specific brand of plant juice.

Yes, I was a major skeptic.

Finally, we did start using essential oils from YL, and we did start seeing improvements.

Using oils turned into essential oil-based cleaning products and natural supplements, and eventually we started making shifts in our home from store-based products to either homemade or truly clean alternatives.

We asked a lot of questions of the brands we had been using and those we were planning to try.

We researched.

And when we made changes, we saw changes.

For the past 5 years, I have been educating families and individuals about toxin-free alternatives via the phone, coffeeshops, co-working spaces, and our homes.

But I always dreamed of a collaborative space where I could partner with other holistic-minded professionals and individuals to teach, lead workshops, have conversations, and be a part of a special community together. That's how The Oil Spot RVA was born!

I still travel all over, for teaching, speaking, and my book events, but it's been so nice to have a home base for our gatherings. I believe in giving back, in leaving the world better than we found it, and I am excited to be doing that with our community of Richmond too.
