When it comes to color, there are many factors that I take into consideration before helping you choose the best option, here are my top five:
1) BUDGET. We all have one and that’s totally ok! Sometimes less is more and we can find a happy medium that will be super flattering and also not break your bank. Maintenance and deciding how often you will realistically be able to commit to seeing me will also reflect in how drastic of a change from your natural color would be advisable.
2) HAIR HISTORY. The health of your hair and it’s chemical history plays a huge role in deciding what is possible. The products you’ve used and currently use are also factors that can effect how much I can alter your color. Be honest ladies, all it takes is 30 minutes for your hair to reveal the truth once color or lightener has been applied!
3) TONE. Tone is described as neutral, cool/ash/grey, warm/gold, warm/red etc. Deciding on a believable tone depends on your complexion and features.
4) LEVEL. Level is how bright or dark your hair is capable of being. If ash is what you’re after, your hair needs to be capable of withstanding lightener to the point that it reaches a very pale yellow. The darker your hair, the further you are away from this. Have patience! Just know the health of your hair will always be my #1 priority. Colorists need to create the canvas on which artificial color can actually be “true to tone”, think of coloring with crayon on a white piece of paper vs a black piece of paper.
5) PLACEMENT. This is where my artistic visual creativity comes into play. I’ll let you know what I think would look best and you & why, then you let me know if that’s something you’ll be comfortable with. Nothing happens without your trust and green light.
