Thanks to Josh Hicks Handy Hicks Corp Pbc, Thanksgiving will be a little brighter for some of our local veterans/clients this holiday season. On 11-11 at exactly 11:11 am, every Veterans Day, the sun aligns perfectly with the Anthem Veteran’s Memorial in Arizona to shine through the ellipses of the five marble pillars representing each branch of the Armed Forces, illuminating The Great Seal of the United States!

We stopped and visited our girl today. Siblings shouldn't have to visit their big sister in the cemetery. Remember that pool is the most dangerous thing you will own. Barriers, swim lessons, CPR, and active supervision are key!

During this time of Thanksgiving, we have so much to be thankful for in our school district, community, state, and our great country. While we’ve had a couple of challenging years are community has and will continue to thrive. They are so many organizations and people that we are thankful for. There are just so many to name but here are just some of the ones that I happen to work closely with to help better meet the needs of our students, staff, schools, and community.

Citrus County Blessings and Christina Reed, the leadership and BOD team, and the near 900 volunteers (yes that number is correct), including the Student Board Representatives and student volunteers that ensure our Citrus students’ bellies have food on the weekends, holidays, and summers. Phil Royal Legacy Foundation and April Royal and her teams for the incredible initiatives they are constantly supporting for students. Citrus County YMCA Citrus Memorial Health Foundation and director David Reed and the other amazing leaders and staff who continuously provide essential low-cost to no-cost services for our students and community. I visited Skip Staab's beautiful new pottery studio yesterday and I wanted to stay all day. His woodworking craftsmanship is evident everywhere creating the perfect backdrop for his whimsical and functional pottery.
The laid-back peaceful quaintness totally charmed me, it really felt like a step back in time to a simpler era.

Update on Hurricane Laura donations:

In two weeks time we received two full trailer loads of material donations, and several thousand dollars. All donations went to the people of Vinton, Louisiana. The monetary donations were used to purchase MREs, air mattresses, and food. I used my personal funds and help from family members to cover all fuel and trailer rental costs.
I will no longer make deliveries, as it took a toll on my health. I will send the final donations with an Ocala church group this weekend.
Power is being restored in Vinton, and yesterday there was a parade celebrating the linemen and tree cutters that made it all possible.
The town still has a need for electricians. A friend of mine has a contact on the licensing board for the state of LA and we are actively seeking interested electricians to reconnect weather heads. It is my understanding that this is not volunteer work, it will be paid. If you know someone interested, please have them call me at +13378022728 and I will get them in contact with the proper channels.

CREST, Renaissance/Pace, and Lecanto Middle School students will pick-up meals at Lecanto High School
