💜🕊️ Some cakes are more than just desserts; they carry deep emotions and memories.

A few weeks ago, I volunteered to create a cake for a Mom in memory of her son, who will sadly remain forever 18 💔

It was a very last-minute request, and all I had left was a pistachio-raspberry honey cake, which, as fate would have it, was his favorite flavor combination. It was just meant to be 💔

Creating this white cake with wafer paper wings was an honor, but I wish I would never receive such a request. It’s difficult to share something so personal, but it felt right to reflect on how fate brought me and this woman together in such a heartbreaking moment. No mother should have to endure the loss of a child, and I’m honored to have brought even a small bit of comfort on such a deeply sad day.

Recently, I had the incredible honor of baking a birthday cake for my dear friend Daniela, the owner of The Preppy Pretzel. I made her my favorite, a Coffee-Toffee-Pecan honey cake, and decorated it to celebrate her Italian heritage. It was a huge hit, and I was thrilled to create it! 🇺🇦❤️🇮🇹

Today Ukrainians celebrates the Day of Vyshyvanka (the traditional embroidered shirt). I had to take a picture in mine, so decided to add it to my business page here and do a quick “meet the Baker behind the business” post.

Hi all, my name is Slava (or Gloria). I am from Ukraine. I love baking and I pour my heart into every single order. I’ve been in the US for 10 years now. Got here for my Ph.D. and stayed forever ❤️

As I bake, I still have my roots at heart and I try my best to introduce some of the traditional Ukrainian desserts and flavors into my customers lives. Many of you already love Horishky and Honey cakes, which makes me extremely proud and happy! I am proud to be Ukrainian and honored to share my heritage with y’all!

You know what’s the best part about it? 😍😍😍
The frosting on the cake is white, so not a ton of black food coloring went into it!

✅ Only the outer crunchy thin layer is black, and it’s also made out of milk chocolate 🖤🩶🤍🩶🖤

In this day full of sweet intentions, I’m introducing the most decadent (and the most layered) cake yet!

✅Chocolate thin sponge layers
✅Sour cream frosting with coffee and cardamom infused whipped cream
✅Caramelized apples with cardamom
And, to top it all:
✅White chocolate/cream cheese/cardamom/coffee mousse covered in milk chocolate and hazelnuts

I had so much fun making this cake!!! Piping all those spider webs definitely makes me appreciate all the cookie decorators even more 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 I would never be able to do that 😂😂😂

Did you know that red is the hardest color to achieve and needs a lot ( and I mean a looooot) of food coloring. Not here though 🙈 because I use my signature chocolate spray technique, the red layer is extremely thin and did not require a spoonful of food coloring ❤️👌🏻

Let’s break up my cake feed with some of the tastiest bite (or two) sized desserts. My absolute love, macarons 😍😍😍

I use Belgian chocolate ganaches and cream cheese fillings to make them. You know why? It’s less sweet than buttercream, which allows me to STUFF the macarons with more filling than shells 😂 and I wouldn’t have it any other way

Hibiscus, a flower with a lot of symbolism and cultural meaning, also ment a lot for my client’s best friend. As soon as I heard the story, I new we have to make the cake special. And I also knew that I have to contact my friend Jamie from to hand make her the flowers!

Boy did the cake turn out amazing and elegant. As one person said, perfect tropical flavor (mango passion fruit honey cake) to match the stunning design. Elegance 🩷🤍🩷

Even though I have a ton of pictures of the cakes I did before this one, I don’t want to wait to post this particular cake. It’s the cake I made for my son’s birthday. We had a Thomas and Friends themed party for the second year in a row (boy is he obsessed 😂).
