Hershey Family Chiropractic Acupuncture
Acupuncture is available at Hershey Family Chiropractic.
Something interesting just happened and I wanted to share. I re-injured my ankle last night (not the interesting part, just back story) so of course I’m doing everything I can to get it feeling better. As I’m sitting here with needles in the front of my ankle spasmed. It hurt so I pulled out the needle circled in the first picture. The other two pictures are what the needle looked like after I took it out. That’s how flexible acupuncture needles are. A tiny ankle muscle twitch will bend a needle.
Can you spot me in this picture? I promise I am there.
Sometimes self care is petting ponies. I miss you all very much but I’m on an amazing adventure spending time with family and I’ll see you all soon.
It's point of the week Wednesday!
Not all Headaches are created equal!
Headaches, what a pain in the…. well, you know. Did you ever wonder why we ask so many questions about headaches? There are many different kinds, which means treating them varies as well. Where it hurts, what causes your headache to start, what makes it better, what it feels like are all important diagnostics for our office to get you the very best care and get you out of pain quickly.
We have different ways of treating different headaches, and want to make sure you get the best treatment for your pain.
One of the best things about working at Hershey Family Chiropractic is I have options above and beyond acupuncture to make sure you’re feeling your best. If you have a problem that is better solved by chiropractic or massage that’s where I will suggest you go.
Things are getting just a little busy in Ann’s life these days. Her Doctoral classes have started so acupuncture hours have been condensed slightly. Mondays 12-6 and Wednesday 9:30-3:00.
The Lung channel of hand TaiYin is interiorly-exteriorly coupled with the Large Intestine channel, and paired with
the Spleen channel according to six channel theory.
The Lung-Large Intestine relationship is further strengthened by the fact that:
• the interior pathway of the Lung primary channel descends to the Large Intestine organ.
• a branch of the Lung primary channel separates from Lieque LU-7 to connect with Shangyang L.I.-1.
• the Lung primary channel originates in the region of the Stomach.
• the Lung primary and divergent channels ascend to the throat.
• the Lung channel does not connect directly with the nose, but does so indirectly via the Large Intestine channel.
The Lung has five principal functions:
• governing qi and controlling respiration.
• controlling disseminating and descending.
• regulating the water passages.
• controlling the skin and body hair.
opening into the nose.
It is by virtue of these functions, as well as the channel pathways discussed above, that many of the actions and indications of the points of the Lung channel can be explained.
These can be summarized as:
• treating rebellion of Lung qi manifesting as respiratory disorders such as coughing, dyspnoea, wheezing, asthma and shortness of breath.
• restoring the Lung’s disseminating function when this is impaired by exterior pathogenic factors which lodge in the superficial portion of the body.
• treating nasal disorders, including nosebleed and nasal obstruction.
• treating disorders of the throat such as dryness, soreness,
congestion, swelling and pain.
• treating edema and obstructed urination when this
is caused by impairment of the Lung’s function of
regulating the water passages and controlling disseminating
and descending.
• treating vomiting due to rebellion of Stomach qi.
Channel pathways in acupuncture (also called meridians) are the paths our Acupuncture points are located on the body. They follow circulatory and nerve bundles of the body. Starting tomorrow we will be highlighting a channel each month.
Point of the Week!
We love treating athletes, and seeing them succeed with acupuncture in their toolbox. I loved following one of my patients as they ran their 10th Boston Marathon last week, knowing I was here helping them make it to the finish line.
I've been treating a lot of jaw pain and TMJ recently, did you know acupuncture can relieve the pain and muscle tension associated with TMJ quickly?
I used it on myself two years ago after my puppy ran her head into my jaw the week of my first live post-covid performance on oboe.
All jokes aside, I can help you feel better. Come take a nap with needles today.

Anticipating some extra headaches this weekend? We can help. Acupuncture is great at reducing headache pain, and stress.
Are you curious about acupuncture? Here are some of the most common questions we get from patients.
Does it hurt? No, you may feel a slight pinch as the needles are inserted but that's all.
How does it work? Acupuncture interacts with the nerve endings in the body as well as increasing blood flow to the immediate area that they are located.
How big are the needles? The needles are 0.18mm in diameter, that's about the width of 2 strands of hair.
How deep do the needles go in? Not very far at all, the needles sit just below the skin and interact with the facia located there.
Did you know acupuncture and massage together makes everything feel even better? Or turns you into a wet noodle faster, your choice.
