And we’re back! Our big Trailful renovation is finished in our main store area and we’re fully open! We’re absolutely loving the fresh look of our historic 1935 building, and hope you do too. Over the past month, we pretty much gutted our front store area, bringing back a ton of historical charm and our building’s original soaring ceiling height. Our beautiful new pillars and woodwork are locally grown and milled white oak from Young Harris, our new concrete floors are all polished and level, and our roof is now solid and stable thanks to an enormous new structural beam and rafter system that’ll keep everything standing another 100 years.

It’s open, bright, and pretty breathtaking! Stop by this weekend while you’re out and about… we’d love to show you around!

Getting closer! Loving the exposed beams, locally milled oak pillars and trim, concrete floors and a whole lot of historic charm! We’re getting our new front doors tomorrow and should be opening back up front this week!

Contrary to the rumors spreading around town, our roof did not fall in! We’re making some great progress in our renovation! This week the Veteran Contracting LLC crew has been busy uncovering layers of rot and neglect in our front area’s ceiling and flooring area, getting everything stripped down before we rebuild it all and expose some of our building’s amazing historic character. It’s a huge investment, but we’ll be adding a bunch of beams and structural elements to stabilize and preserve the nearly 100-year-old building that we call our Trailful home.

And just a reminder, we are OPEN during construction! Our crew worked hard over the holidays to renovate our former office space in the back half of our building so we can continue to serve our Appalachian Trail thru hikers and our community while the front half of our building is under construction. Stop by to say hi, we’d love to see you and share our progress!

To keep our store open for the Appalachian Trail thru-hikers and our community these next few weeks, we moved to the back half of our building and we'll be open our regular hours. Stop by to say hello, and please use our side entrance to access our temporary space in the back of our building over the next few weeks. We're looking forward to sharing more as we spruce up our space!

It's amazing how a road trip and a walk in the woods seem to work some magic when the world seems a little too complicated. On our day off this week we wandered around North Georgia and up to the Smokies to catch some more autumn color and get lost in the wonders of the wilderness.

It's looking mighty pretty in the mountains right now, so it'll be a great weekend to get out and see some colorful views.

Every year, Trailful is honored to be a part of a huge journey for thousands of Appalachian Trail hikers during their epic 2,000+ mile hike between Georgia and Maine. We love the chance to meet these amazing thru-hikers and share in their planning, outfitting and logistics as they continue their exciting and challenging A.T. thru-hike.

We let thru-hikers sign their names, "trail names", and little snippets of motivation on this banner as they visit Hiawassee and continue on their amazing journey along the famed trail that leads over 2,000 miles over and along the Appalachian Mountains.

Here's Kimi and Paul from our Trailful crew with the banner signed by the A.T. hikers that have visited us so far this year. We're excited to see the rest of the space filled by the "SOBOs" (southbound AT thru-hikers that start in Maine and finish in Georgia) as we round out the rest of 2023!
