We thought it would be a good time to share a few tips to care for your ramp and ensure safe travel throughout the winter.

The most important thing you can do for your ramp is to clear snow and ice from the walking surface as quickly and frequently as possible. Even if it's just a small amount of snow, it's important to remove it quickly before it freezes and becomes ice.

Most of the snow on your ramp can be removed with a standard snow shovel, but we also recommend a stiff-bristled broom or brush to remove the remaining snow from between the non-slip tread that comes standard on all of our ramps.

Once all of the snow has been removed from the ramp, we recommend adding any commercially available ice melting salt to your ramp. Not only is the salt perfectly safe for the aluminum ramp, but it actually provides added traction in slippery conditions—so don't be shy about adding more as necessary.
That's it—just do your best to keep your ramp free of snow and add salt as necessary. These simple steps will ensure safe travel throughout the winter months.

3 important things to consider when choosing a ramp:

1. Rise- Determine the ramp’s rise by using a tape measure to measure the distance from the ground to the top of the steps where the ramp will go.

2. The Landing- We need to know if there is a porch or deck at the top of the ramp. This allows us to determine if a landing platform is necessary or not.

3. Slope- If the ground where the ramp will land has a slope it will affect the needed length.
