New Life Thrift Store

New Life comes to life!

New Life Thrift store is the brainchild of Holly Mackenzie Campbell, a member of the Mt. Bethel UMC & the United Methodist Women. The Lord laid it on her heart to open a thrift store in this area since there were none. The residents of the Bethlehem community have to go to Taylorsville or cross the bridge into Catawba county to get to a Goodwill, Salvation Army or other thrift stores. She bought the idea to the UMW & they agreed to take on this project and we hit the ground running. After securing the location, we went into work mode! Holly & Anita Bostian worked to apply for a grant from the UMC. The Lord was truly on our side when we were awarded the Vitality grant.

The all volunteer work force cleaned, painted, set-up racks, sorted clothing, hung the sign outside on the building & at the road, installed the drop-box. Pastor Dale Bost of Mt. Bethel UMC, blessed the store, our endeavor, the workers and all who may enter. All of the items are reasonably priced, so anyone can come in find what they are looking for without having to break the bank, especially a family with children.

We hope to be a beacon of hope for those who come through our doors. We pray before we open, we greet each “guest” with a smile and send them off with a God Bless you, thank you for coming and have a blessed day! Sometimes those few words will impact someone’s day greatly. Each bag gets a page with inspirational words that they can read during their quiet time, before they send the kids off to school or whenever they have the time. We consider this a ministry and we plan to use this opportunity to spread the love of Christ, even to those who truly know Him, but especially to those who don’t.

It would be hard to thank everyone by name, but there are a few that need to be mentioned. Tracy Campbell (Holly’s husband & resident handyman), Chris Bostian for making the dropbox and helping to hang signs (Anita’s husband), Rachel & Landon Beard for hanging the signs, Judy Sipe-President Mt Bethel UMW for her support & seeing the vision that Holly had in her heart.
