The Carnivore way of eating has been around for a LONG time! I have oftentimes called it a âfad dietâ because our bodies need good quality carbs to survive, right?? I was soo WRONG!! I had been battling inflammation in my joints for several months and no supplements, massage, or even eliminating dairy & sugar was helping. I knew about carnivore and ok the claims that it could help with inflammation (among many other things) so I decided to give it a try! Besides, who doesnât love bacon & burgers!!? I started June 1st and have never looked back. Not only was inflammation pretty much cleared up in my joints within 3-4 weeks, I also started seeing clearer skin, my gut felt better than it had in years, and since starting I have easily dropped 17 pounds. I am also eating more calories now than I ever have on any other diet plan!! Will I stay on for life ? I donât know, but 4 months in, I feel like itâs the easiest plan I have ever followed! #carnivore #ribeyesteak

đ You will always hear me talk about the power of movement... This isnât just about exercise. Our bodies crave movement and will usually feel a LOT better (fewer aches and pains, better mood, etc.) when we move our body regularly.Plus, having a stronger, limber body improves our quality of life as we get older. Here are ways I sneak more activity into my daily life:â I add steps wherever I can! So that means I park farther away when Iâm running errands, taking the stairs instead of an elevator, or giving the dog an extra walk.â Keep it fun! Sign up for a fun class at the gym. I take an adult dance class each week. (Did you know we have group fitness classes at Legit Fitness in Hudson? Drop by and check out the details! The instructors are a BLAST to work with)â I set goals! This gives me something to work toward. I personally love to work towards getting stronger, so I use a journal to log my workouts from week to week to be sure I am increasing my strength.Donât know how or where to start?Drop me a DM and letâs talk about how we can work together !

Do you know the difference between FLEXIBILITY & MOBILITY?â-Mobility refers to the bodyâs ability to move through its full range of motion, flexibility is the ability to stretch.â-Making time to work on your mobility can help improve your day-to-day performance not only in your workouts or sports, but in your everyday life. While mobility is affected by your flexibility, it also requires strength & balance. âď¸Example: Lowering yourself from standing to sitting in a chair is an example of mobility. If you can control the motion of descent to the chair from start to finish without pain, that demonstrates good mobility.âď¸Flexibility is your ability to lengthen the muscle fibers. Lack of flexibility could potentially increase the risk of injury. If you go to pick up a heavy object and there is not enough flexibility in the spine or hamstrings, you could pull something. âď¸âď¸Itâs important to work to improve BOTH flexibility and mobility. Here I am working on increasing both to improve my hiking abilities. Climbing over rocks, navigating slick surfaces, and balancing through creek crossings requires BOTH to come out of the woods safely.â-This is why strength training exercises while you are healthy are so important, they help to increase your mobility so that you can continue to do more on your own. (P.S. Improving mobility and flexibility can also help improve everyday aches and pains!)Even as active as I am, there is always room for improvement in this department.â-If this post has helped you to realize that you need to be working on improving your mobility and flexibility but donât know what to do or how to do it, letâs talk about it.
Itâs totally normal to feel like you need a nap in the afternoon. But there are things you can do to ward off that sleepiness before it happens AND how you can cope if it does strike!! Our bodyâs natural rhythms are set up to peak during the night and the afternoon. So here are a few things that you can do to power through that slump: FIRST: Get in a workout if you can! And if you canât go workout, stand up, go for a walk, move around, and stretch. Your body CRAVES movement! SECOND: Brew a cup of green tea. It contains phytochemicals that can help you wake up without giving you the jitters. I actually brew a pitcher each week specifically for my afternoon pick me up. THIRD: Turn on some music⌠and switch tasks if possible to give your brain a new challenge. FOURTH: If you can, take a short catnap to recharge! 20-25 mins tops will help you sleep off the heavy eyelids and refresh for the afternoon. Practicing healthy habits each day can help you to avoid the slumps altogether such as eating a healthy balanced diet ⌠staying hydrated ⌠and also doing your best not to sit staring at a screen all day! I hope this helps!! If you are going to give some of these tips a try, drop me a đ in the comments!
Shout out to my client Brett rocking out his fitness at 60 years young!! He comes in to see me 3 days per week and gives me his all each and every time! He never makes excuses for his age or even for his past injuries. He knows that even at this point in his life he has to continue to do the work so that he can be fit and continue to feel good so that he can stay active. Brett, thank you for always showing up and showing out!
I HAD NO IDEA this was happening to me!! ...Last week I talked to you about the importance of muscle symmetry and balance. I started adding loaded carries to my weekly regimen and discovered a huge weakness on my left side when doing overhead kettlebell carries. I train with dumbbells all the time over barbells so I would have never expected to struggle with this. And as a former bodybuilder, muscle symmetry and balance is of utmost importance!!! Go check out my post from last week of me doing this move to learn more about the importance muscle balance and symmetry. In the meantime, follow along each week and watch me work on improving this!! #strengthtraining #mobility #symmetry #womenover40 #womeninspiringwomen
What do you think all effective & successful personal trainers have in common? Of course, trainers should be creating workout plans that include ways to improve a client's strength, mobility, and cardio levels. They should also progress as the client's ability does so that they never stay stagnant. And, while I shouldnât even have to say this, they should make sure that clients are using proper form so as to not increase the risk of injury. Trainers are successful when clients are successful at reaching their goals and in order to do that, a trainer needs to know how to create a plan that is personalized to each individual. Most people do not start a new workout program because they think it will be fun! But as a trainer and a coach, it is my job to make sure my clients have a plan that will help them reach their goals and to create an environment that they look forward to coming back to each and every time. I rarely have open sessions as most of my clients stay with me long term! However with Fall just around the corner, I am opening up a few more spots. I specialize in helping my clients: đ Lose weight đ Gain weight đ Increase strength đ Improve mobility đ Improve health markers đ Recover from surgery or injury I currently have the following blocks open at Legit Fitness in Hudson, NC: #1: 8am- Monday, Wednesday, Friday (choose 2 or 3 days) #2: 10:45am- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (choose 2, 3, or 4 days) Message me for more details & to claim your spot!
