🚨 Gmail scam spreading: This is frightening. Watch out for fake Gmail account recovery request notifications that look like the real deal. Hackers try to convince you to sign in through a phony login page, where they can then capture your password. Ignore or decline the request and they'll follow up with an AI-generated Google support call in which the caller claims someone has accessed your account and stolen your data. Ignore that, too. Pass this on so everyone knows this is happening. I get most of my scam warnings from Kim Komando's daily emails, and her podcasts. Really useful!!

******SCAM ALERTS*******

There are several scams going around, some of which might be new to you. These have all come from listening to Kim Komando's podcast. People who have been scammed, or who have family members, have spoken to her about the scams.

In most or all of these scams, the criminals will ask for payment in weird ways. Some will ask for crypto, and direct the victim to a crypto ATM. Some will ask for $$ to be withdrawn, in $100 bills, and wrapped inside pants, and then put in boxes. Some will ask for Gold bars. Some will have an actual courier, come to the house to get the money or gold. NO legitimate bank, credit card or police department will ever contact you to get funds from you. If you suspect there might actually be a problem with your credit card or bank account, call the phone number on the back of your card, or go directly to your bank's website, preferably on a different device than the phone you're speaking on. NEVER click on any links in emails, if the email is asking for you to send money, or says there's a problem with your account. The email link is the entry for the scammers. They can often take control of your computer or smart phone, at that point. Those of us with elderly relatives can get the bank to add us to be called, if our loved one is trying to withdraw large amounts of cash. I know there are family dynamics that might make this difficult. But it is worth a conversation.

****Your grandkid calls, and is in jail******
The AI fakes have gotten so good, that criminals can fake the voice of a young person, which can fool a grandparent. Don't use that number given to you. Find the number from another source, or just ignore this. Your grandkid probably did it! ;-) Just kidding.

*****A Warrant for your arrest*****
Criminal scammers will call, often using the name of the FBI or someone, that probably isn't the law enforcement agency, that would call, if any agency would ever call. Same as these other scams. They'll tell you, you won't be arrested, if you go and get $$ or gold, or send crypto. In most cases, if there was a warrant, the department or agency would probably just send police or agents to get you, at 0600.

*****There's a problem with your bank account****
Criminals will call and say they are calling from the fraud department, and there is a problem with your account. For the safety of your account, you need to withdraw the cash, and send it to another department, which is the scammers. This last one is from areal case. An elderly woman fell for the bank scam, and lost $1,400,000; ALL of her life savings. She was instructed to withdraw the money, in $100 bills, put them into pants pockets, wrap them, put them in boxes, wrap them, again, and mail the boxes. I don't know how this woman believed this. But, she did it several times, to get to that 1.4 million. Only ONE bank refused to give her any cash. This fraud officer warned her. Twice! So, that bank agreed to disagree, and closed her account. But, all the rest let her come in and withdraw the money. Yes. The money in your account is yours. But, as people get older, they are easier targets of these scammers. So, again, see if one of the kids can be set as a contact to be called in a situation like this.

*****Professional License has expired and you are practicing or working illegally****
This happened to a dentist friend of mine. She is not even elderly. But, the call caught her off guard. But, it was supposedly, the FBI. After she figured it was BS, and she told me, I reminded her that if anyone would call, it would be the State Board, or some state agency; not the feds.

One caller has fun with scammers, because he recognizes the scam. He agrees to get the money. For the courier, he gives out the address of the local police department.

Many TV and Radio personalities are advertising for the Hallow app. It sounds like a great app, to study and learn the Bible. However, it has a subscription price. Jane and I have been using the Uverse Bible app, for years. It is totally free. It has Bible plans, it has almost every version of the Bible, for download. It has a setup, so you can open and follow the sermon and events, at your church, during the service. All the verses and talking points are there. It's great to use to follow along, especially if you want to reread a verse that was just discussed. It has the ability to listen to a narrator, if you're doing something, and you want the Bible read to you. There is another feature, called "Bible Recap," in which the verses are read in chronological order, and at the end, a person does a recap of what was just read. Of course, one can just pick a Book, by Chapter and Verse, and just read. There are many other things this app can do, and all of them are free. We also use the OnePlace app, also free, which has podcasts of over 70 ministers, and Christian shows. David Jeremiah, The Seculows, Focus on the Family, Counterculture Mom, etc.

I think we should just let humans on pmsnbc, and cnn do that!! All kidding aside, one story made up by AI, on this co**ie app, was a supposed Christmas Day shooting in a small NJ town. Police in this town said no shooting, of any kind, occurred on Christmas. Kim Komando show.

Yesterday marked 35 years of a wonderfully happy marriage to a great gal! We had a nice dinner at Perry's, in Grapevine! 5 Years of dating, before we married, while we finished TCU and I went to Baylor College of Dentistry. Plus, Jane had to be really certain she could deal with me. 😉

A tough day remembering our Task Force 111th MMB and the 55th CSC unit members and those with them who lost their lives at Camp Liberty, Iraq, 15 years ago. U.S. Army Specialist Jacob D. Barton, Sergeant Christian E. Bueno-Galdos, Major Matthew P. Houseal, Private First Class Michael E. Yates, and U.S. Navy Commander Charles K. Springle. Missed by family and friends. Never forget.

You only have to floss and brush the teeth you want to keep. This brown substance on the teeth, is bacterial calculus, which some people call tartar. It is hard, like barnacles on a boat. Once it forms, a patient cannot remove it. The removal requires professional cleaning. If left in place, it grows in size, due to more bacterial effects. And, it causes the gums to come away from the teeth, and causes bone loss. These teeth were so mobile, and had such severe bone loss, that there was no way to keep them and maintain them. Periodontitis contributes to other health issues. This patient is on the list for an organ transplant. His surgeons would not treat him, until his oral health was brought under control. Sadly, extractions were the answers in this case.

For the second year, I'm volunteering at the Colonial (Charles Schwab) tournament. Colonial revamped the course. Greens were moved. Sand traps/bunkers were added. Some greens were elevated to make the holes more challenging. Same, as last year, I'll be serving on the Hospitality Committee. Our job is to greet people and help them get to where they need to be. Volunteering is a great way to have full access to the course, and to see some great professional golf. I look forward to seeing y'all!!
