Eid al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice. It is celebrated to honor the sacrifice that Prophet Abraham was willing to make as an act of obedience to Allah's command. It is celebrated with prayers, social gatherings, delicious food and gift-giving (aka Eidi).
Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating!
Happy Father's Day!
Button batteries can be found in a variety of household items (i.e. remotes, thermometers, watches, hearing aids, toy, etc.).
They can become lodged in a child's upper airway, ears or nostrils and cause serious damage within hours.
Certain types of batteries can react with saliva and cause an alkaline reaction & may erode the esophagus, leading to permanent damage/death.
Most incidents are unwitnessed.
If suspected ingestion, call poison control right away and head to the nearest emergency room. Do not let him/her eat or drink anything and do not tell them to vomit.
Possible complications include:
- TE fistula (an abnormal connection between the trachea and esophagus)
- Lung abscess
- Tracheomalacia (tracheal wall collapse)
- Pneumothorax (lung collapse)
- Aspiration pneumonia
- Tear in a large blood vessel
Make sure every battery in your house/car is secured and accounted for.

Why orange?
"On January 21, 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later, Hadiya was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago. Soon after this tragedy, Hadiya’s friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. Wear Orange is now observed every June. Thousands of people wear the color orange to honor Hadiya and the more than 43,000 Americans are killed with guns and approximately 76,000 more are shot and wounded every year." wearorange.org

Any parent/caregiver can forget a child in the backseat when exiting the car. Any child can accidently enter an unattended vehicle unnoticed. Therefore, it is important for all caregivers to come up with a prevention plan 📝(see slide 2).
Keep in mind --- A child can die of a heat stroke within minutes if left in a hot car.

Happy Mother's Day!
"Shall we try to count the ways teachers help students reach their potential? A teacher doesn't just provide lessons and grade tests; a teacher is also a cheerleader, a psychologist, a crowd-control expert, a motivational speaker, a nutritionist, a literacy advocate, a nurse, and a recipient of shiny apples and the pure love of a grateful child. Besides the usual note-passing, spitballs, or occasional tongue stuck to a frozen flagpole, teachers need to know how to handle the greater challenges that come with 21st-century living, like the use of social media, family crises, and explaining complex world events. But most importantly, teachers give unwavering friendship and support to the students who pass through their classrooms." - Teacher's Day 2024
We are so grateful to all the teachers out there! You have a tough job but you're rocking it! Happy Teachers Day
