“Art has the power to change the way we see the world, awakening us to new perspectives, ideas, and values. It can take us back in time to reflect on our past or push us further into our future. Art can bring awareness to social issues and foster a sense of acceptance — bringing people together regardless of background.” Art Business News
This quote seemed appropriate for today since I got a huge shipment of Belgian linen canvas delivered to my studio just this morning. I’m preparing for some commissions and upcoming shows and two canvas rolls of 10ftx33ft won’t get me very far with all the big paintings I have in the works. Stay tuned!
What keeps your heart awake?
Self mastery begins with recognizing what you don’t know.
Also the essence for a happy life. Gratitude is everything! Thanks for following along with my artwork here on Instagram. 🙏
Have you ever felt like you were a conduit as an artist?
Inspiring words from a very broken man…
When I look back at my old work it’s nice to have documented my journey as an artist!
I especially see this with my children. It’s like from the time they are born they have these innate artistic abilities but each child expresses it so uniquely and differently!
Totally in awe of this man! His sense of curiosity truly made him a genius.
Somehow in his insanity he actually got it - life and people!
❤️
I didn’t know that Money was also a skilled caricaturist! Apparently he was inspired by nature and had a sense of humor with drawing people. 250 water lily paintings over 30 years!
Would pay a pretty penny for Klimt’s thoughts!
Have you ever felt moved to truth from a piece of art? If so, what piece was it?
I captured this scene of the moon as I drove my youngest son to school this morning. It reminded me, as nature often does, that He truly is the master artist!
I hope wherever you are in the world today, that you’ll see His art in nature. 🌝
Save the date! Lots of new paintings that I’m excited to share. If you’ll be in town for the holidays, I hope to see you opening night!
🌺 Please join me December 30th in Park City for my annual solo show at Meyer Gallery. They always have the best music and hors d'oeuvres for those who brave the cold. Plus I’ll be there!
A little Wednesday morning motivation from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
A Psalm For Life
Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
It’s a process that is more spiritual than mental!
Every day is a blank canvas!
Pondering this as I’m painting today.
I’ve been obsessed with Bernini since I got to see his work in Italy. He is truly one of the greatest sculptors who ever lived!
work > talent
There’s no substitute for hard work!
Age Before Beauty has found it’s forever home with my client here in Seattle. Last year she designed and commissioned a giant painting of my horse Apollo for over her fireplace. She’s been looking for a piece to compliment the other wall in her living room and she fell in love with this Porsche. My collectors make it possible for me to do what I love and I’m so grateful for the art and connection that we share!
I’m in Seattle and hope to see you at the show in Bellevue tomorrow! I’ll be there 10-9. 🎨
This is the story of my horse Apollo. He wasn’t always the magnificent looking horse that I love to paint, but our journey has bonded us together.
