Ever questioned why we see the sky in shades of blue? If so, great question!...Because it's actually purple. Here's the reason why:
The sky appears blue because of Rayleigh scattering-- when sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere and interacts with gases and particles in the air.
The Earth's atmosphere is composed mostly of very small molecules compared to the wavelength of visible light. When light from the sun enters the atmosphere, it collides with these small molecules and gets scattered in all directions.
Since blue light wavelengths are shorter than other colors in the visible spectrum, such as purple, when blue light collides with the small molecules in the atmosphere, it gets scattered more easily and in all directions, making it appear to be coming from all parts of the sky.
Simply put, purple light is not as prominent in the scattered light that reaches our eyes. That is why we see blue.
Okay, let's get to spring cleaning out our medicine cabinets the right way. It's easy. It's also important.
Studies have shown that flushed medications make their way into our water supply with negative impacts.
Safe medication disposal can often be found at kiosks in your local pharmacy. Found expired eye drops or contact solutions? Don't use them, lose them- properly!
Go ahead, take a wild guess! Let us know if you guessed right in the comments!
Windy days are great days to grab the glasses for protection and eye comfort.
