Our very own WWII Navy Veteran, Martin Kirwin, turned 103 yesterday!! He loves kissing the ladies hands, drinking coffee, and lunching with his best buddy Doug. We are lucky to have this fine gentleman with us here at Brookshire. Happy birthday, Mr. Kirwin!
We had Round #2 of our Butter Bean Auction today and the paddles were getting a workout! Our folks left the room happy with their new treasures.

Thank you, Jeanie Cranford and Tribe, for teaching us about Cherokee culture! We loved the dancing and singing, and learning about the background and meaning of each. Mike, Doug, Martin, Geneva, and Toni absolutely loved playing the drum. Two of our residents were honored with new names and beautiful necklaces. We had an incredible and uplifting day with our new friends.

We had so much fun bidding, outbidding, and winning at our Butter Bean Auction today! We had so many items we decided to finish next week with a fresh stash of beans. Thank you to Jennifer McKinney Clapp ,for being an incredible auctioneer, and to our awesome item shower Kristi Morales! Residents left happy with their wonderful treasures. What a Friday!
It's Butter Bean Auction time!!
Thanks to our kind and generous friends at Firefly Farm, our residents were able to put together these gorgeous arrangements! Firefly Farm has dropped off the most beautiful bouquets, several times, and Barbara, Bonnie, and Kathleen did an excellent job creating these masterpieces to share with special residents.
Friday was Little Debbie's birthday, so we celebrated the best way possible! Everyone got to pick their favorite and finish the week off with a sweet treat. It's always a good day for Little Debbie's!
We had a therapy visit from Buckley the Labradoodle and his human Peter today. This sweet boy brought so much joy to the Brookshire folks!
Thank you our friends at Home Depot for these fun propagation kits. They turned out so cute!
Our folks made some paper beads out of rolling magazine page strips and they turned out so cool!

The Brookshire crew had a blast at the Durham Bulls Game on Saturday. We even got to hang out with Wool E. Bull! Food, fun, and baseball!
We received an incredible donation of quilted lap blankets a while back, but do not know who gave them to us. They were obviously made with love and care, and we would love to thank the group that chose us for this generous donation. Our residents are loving their warm laps!
