Hinsdale Public Library celebrates lifelong learning and fosters community connections through innovative educational and cultural experiences.
Hinsdale’s stuffed animals had lots of fun at our stuffed animal sleepover earlier this week!
Thank you to Grace, our first ever “kid librarian,” for selecting some favorite books for the display case in our youth department!
New I Spy Case is out! Thanks to the Besio family for our fun August challenge and to for supporting this program.
Thanks to the 100+ Hinsdale residents who turned out to see Bear Williams Blues on the lawn with us last night—as well as our Friends of the Library for sponsoring our annual summer concert and Old Town School of Folk Music for sending such a great band our way. We had a great time and we hope you did too!
Wow did we get lucky with the weather! Bear Williams Trio is setting up outside the Library on the south patio. The concert is still on for 6 p.m.! Registered guests can check in for drink tickets; all are welcome to come by for some blues!
Thanks again to and her family for their summer themed July I Spy Case! Can’t wait to see what our next family will bring to us for our August challenge.
The sun sets on a great Uniquely Thursday and a beautiful scene outside the Library.
Look who we found trying to get into the Library this morning! This luna moth’s wings reflect a beautiful glow in the right lighting, so keep an eye out this evening.
Lily Claire just completed the “100 Books Before High School Challenge”—wow! Middle schoolers have more going on than ever before, but she took reading seriously and will be ready to excel when she starts at Hinsdale Central!
Have you seen our Mini Art Museum? Look next to the aquarium in our Youth Department for miniature masterpieces made by Hinsdale kids at a recent Library program!
Have you seen our I Spy Case yet this month? Another beautuful piece of art from a member. Thank you and family!
Have you seen this fellow out at Fullersburg Woods? Learn all about DuPage County's Olmec Trails art exhibition tonight (Monday, July 15) at 7 p.m. from Diana Martinez, Director of the McAninch Arts Center.
Due to rain, today’s storytime (Wednesday, July 10) will be at the Library in the Community Meeting Room starting at 10 a.m. Butterscotch can’t wait to see you! Can you guess what today’s Storytime theme is?
Thanks for joining us at yesterday’s parade, thanks to the Village for organizing, and THANK YOU to the Friends of the Library for donating hundreds of books we got to distribute to kids along the route. Have a beautiful weekend 🇺🇸☀️
See you on the parade route!
The Library will be closed on July 4! No items will be due back Thursday. Don't forget, you can access our digital collection at hinsdalelibrary.info/downloadables. See you at the parade!
We had so much fun at Burns Field this morning reading ‘My Love for You Is Like a Garden’ with author Laura Smetana. Thanks to Birches Assisted Living and Memory Care for making today possible, donating the books we gave away, and providing snacks and crafts. We’ll see you for a different story in the park on July 10!
We were elated to read in yesterday's Tribune that author and HPL super-patron Cristina Henríquez will be honored with the Chicago Public Library Foundation's 21st Century Award for her novel 'The Great Divide.' She was chosen not just because her book is amazing, but also for being an advocate for the transformative power of libraries. Congrats, Cristina!
See you tonight!
Let's try this again... We are so ready to get this party in the park started! Welcome back Uniquely Thursdays this week with GooRoos!
We can't wait to see you out there TONIGHT, 6-9pm Burlington Park. *The food court is located on Chicago ave.*
See you soon!
Have you seen Hinsdale artist InJung Oh’s Spirit of Life, our summer art exhibition? It will be on display through the end of August in our Quiet Reading Room! We were delighted to host the artist last week when we launched the exhibition.
Did you know our Find the Hidden Object game has expanded!? We now offer it on weekends, too—three times a day, every day of the week, we hide an object that we’ve 3D printed somewhere in the Youth Department. Whoever finds it can keep it. Hinsdale patrons can also order custom 3D printed designs.
It’s going to be hot out there this weekend! Find a spot in the shade to blow your bubbles and cool off at the Library during the hottest part of the day.
It was hot yesterday—a great day to cool off at the Library and think about the great outdoors. Kids roasted “marshmallows” and read campfire stories, and adults attended our National Parks lecture. We also welcomed exhibiting artist InJung Oh, whose nature-inspired artwork is on display through August.
Getting set up for InJung Oh’s Spirit of Life art reception tonight (Wednesday, Jun. 12 at 6:30 p.m.)! Come meet our exhibiting artist and enjoy refreshments on your way to our National Parks lecture at 7. You can also stop by and admire Oh’s art anytime this summer.
A patron dropped off these beautiful handcrafted bookmarks to share with the Library! If you’d like one, ask at the Patron Services Desk while supplies last. Adults and high schoolers can stop by Needlecraft Night on Thursday at 7 p.m. to work on their own projects.
Calling all puzzlers! Middle schoolers and high schoolers can come to our Puzzle Party Thursday at 1 p.m. to make their own jigsaw puzzle, complete crosswords, and check out our puzzle books. Register at hinsdalelibrary.info/events!
Can't wait for our National Parks lecture June 12 at 7 p.m.! Come a half hour early to pop into our "Spirit of Life" InJung Oh Art reception and grab some refreshments!

Had a fun chat this morning with The Hinsdalean about my upcoming presentation at Hinsdale Public Library (June 12). It's a virtual tour of five national parks. I could talk about our parks for DAYS!
