Be beautiful like the birch - the tree that embraces its craggy bark, standing tall and strong, as it flaunts its imperfection, reminding us to do the same.
This is not on my to-do list, but alas, what’s life without trying ‘something’ new?
Should this go on my front porch or yours? DM me.
You perceive 80% of all impressions through your sense of sight.
So why not pair art and a candle with its gentle flicker? Together they captivate and calm me. It’s my way of coping through the short days of winter.

My secret to surviving the short days of winter: candles and art.
Paired together they become more powerful.
In my kitchen, all it takes is for me to light a cinnamon scented candle paired with colorful art and quickly I’ve got a tap-dancing beat in my feet.
It’s an immediate pick-me-up.

Relax. The holidays are over.
Spreading your wings is a wonderful thing.
After the hustle of the holidays, January seems like the perfect time to settle into your domestic nest. Yet real growth happens when you spread your wings.
Let this cardinal nudge you to take flight and try something new. Perhaps take a class, read a book, learn from You-tube videos ...
Tackling that New Year’s resolution might just change your outlook in a great way!

How’s your list coming along? Check it twice as it’s your last chance for some colorful goodies ... journals, books, paintings and a handful of ornaments can be shipped tomorrow, Saturday, December 16. Then before the sun peaks out I’ll be on my way to Wisconsin. Can’t wait to get those family hugs.
It’s a small gathering in Wisconsin this year as the big family is scattered here and there. But that’s why a car has wheels. So I can motor to all the different houses and play Santa.
Christmas can be more than one day of celebration. And I’m all in.
Lights, camera, action. That’s Christmas.
Tame your holiday mood with the ease of neutrals - they’re the oasis of tranquility radiating relaxation, warmth, and a welcoming feeling. Savor their simplicity and diffuse some of the stresses of your day - the perfect balance to the whirlwind of Christmas.

How’s your list? Not your ‘to-do’ list.
We all know the nearer we get to Christmas it seems more things are added than crossed off.🤪
So how about your list to Santa?
You still make one, right? Why not?
I make one every year ... just to dream. I shake that snowglobe letting the dancing snow settle the spinning in my head. It’s a ‘Slice of Quietude.’
Lull yourself into this quiet place of contentment everyday in your home with art.
‘A Slice of Quietude’ - 8 x 8” original oil. $185. Link in comments.
I gingerly run my bare fingers across the rough and ragged edges of the imperfect birch bark deciding I’m like this tree.
I can be rough around the edges, like when I lose my patience and snap at my husband about forgetting to buy coffee when it was on MY grocery list!We all have rough edges.
Yet, the rough birch bark reminds me to peel away those rough spots and let my new and refined bark shine.
So let the birch inspire you.
Be patient with your imperfections. Peel away the ragged edges and then stand tall.
Original oil 8 x 10 x 1.5” Ready to sit on a shelf or hang. $195. Link in comments

Sip and savor the simple moments.
I love to take that moment at the end of the day and ..... sometimes it’s just an ah that escapes my lips... sometimes it’s whispering a blessing... sometimes it’s letting art take me away.
Cardinals remind me of my dad. Each time I hear their sweet song a smile crosses my face picturing my dad and his dancing handlebar mustache as he mimicked their whistle.
This toast is to you dad.

Looking for an inspirational gift? One that tells a true story about overcoming a misstep of your own doing?
Well, that’s my story.
In my thirties, I made a poor decision. Really poor.
Thinking my choice was a dream of a lifetime, I moved away from my family only to face rejection and embarrassment.
Alone, with roommates of shame and guilt, I just had myself to blame😞.
That’s when the birch tree became my symbol. Like the tree’s rough bark, I had to stand tall and accept my flaws realizing regrets only paralyzed me.
If I wanted to reunite with my family I had to push forward taking one small step at a time.
A Lone Birch, My Artistic Journey tells my story from nurse to artist to 25-year veteran art gallery owner, in downtown Holland, Michigan.
