Life is short, and fragile.
I’m shocked by the news of Grant’s sudden passing. He was my friend, and a mainstay at events of our shared social circles.
He once accredited his prized manual dexterity to playing video games at an early age, so I took him on a tour of Blizzard HQ - which, is where this 1st photo was taken.
Last night, I hopped on a zoom call with dozens of Grant’s friends, and listened to stories of people I knew, and some I’ve never met. He was so very loved.
I hope one day, soon, we can properly celebrate his life together, in person.
Until then, please reach out to someone you love, someone you miss, or someone who has impacted your life — and let them know how much you care. Time might feel slowed down right now, but it’s gone in a blink of an eye.
Thank you for everything you gave to me, and the world, Grant. You are wholly missed. Rest In Peace.

It was my favorite record store in Los Angeles, and holds many memories. Doors opened a year after I arrived, in 2001, and I bought records for my collection in it’s first week of business. I spent so much time in this building - walking up and down the aisles - waiting for an album to draw me in and change my life. I even used to go on weekends and get boxes of music for free, out of inventory they couldn’t sell, and used the covers in album art collages I dubbed, “Recycled Rock”.
I even loved the parking garage and staircase, which was covered in band posters and flyers. The whole building was a dedication to music.
Luckily, they’re moving just a few blocks away and plan to hopefully reopen once this pandemic is over. But, this building held memories for many, and I’m sad to see it close due to COVID19.
Perhaps fittingly, congrats on your 19 years in this location, Amoeba, and I can’t wait to celebrate your resurrection.

When asked me to do his series, I knew exactly what I wanted to wear. This little blouse belonged to my Grandmother, who wore it next to her car in 1944, before picking up my Grandfather from WW2. After being shot down in Italy, he was labeled missing in action, and later discovered to have been a prisoner of war before his escape.
My Grandmother, however, didn’t know if he would ever return, so, she sought the advice of a fortune teller. According to my Aunt, the fortune teller told my Grandmother to wear a blouse with “colorful embroidery”, for when she did, he would come home. Sure enough, she found this blouse, put it on, and that same day received word he was safe. Before picking him up, she took a photo in the blouse next to her car before going to get her man! Look at what a gorgeous couple they were in photo 3.
I never knew my grandmother. I met her when I was baby, but she died of a heart attack when I was 3. My grandpa was the coolest dude, and I was in love with him as a little girl. This blouse has come a long way since 1944 — 76 years later, it’s now helping me find sanity through a global pandemic. I’ve struggled a lot with anxiety and depression lately, and this shoot helped me relax a little. Eric used a long lens and stood 8-12 feet away, masked at all times. I have a few more shots to share over the next couple days. Perhaps the transitive property of this blouse will bring happiness and peace in the near future. At the very least, I certainly know where I got my love for all things esoteric.

I’m so grateful to have had this time spent in Seattle. Every Tuesday for 8 weeks, I flew from LA to work in Redmond Wednesday evenings, and return on a Thursday. Sometimes I took red-eyes back after work, for more work in LA. Sometimes I just stayed a little longer for fun and to see friends. •
I spent a ton of time with my sister and her family. It’s important for me to go home and remember my roots.

Washington is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I got to see the season change. I walked through the rain, because it felt good. It’s grounding, here.
