September might just be the best month of the year! And I’m not saying that because we’re a family made up entirely of September babies. Warm, sunshiny days... cooler nights... all sorts of great local fairs and festivals… harvesting apples, pumpkins and cranberries… it’s fantastic! So there’s no better time to bring back Cranberry Pumpkin Seed than right now. Made with tart cranberries and toasted pepitas, we think it’s a more sophisticated fall choice than say, pumpkin spice. 🤣🎃🥯 But don’t worry pumpkin spice people… your time is coming, too! 😉

A childhood memory of warm apple pie topped with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese was the inspiration behind our signature Apple Cheddar bagel. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups helped influence our Peanut Butter cream cheese + Chocolate Chip bagel combo… and thoughts of Elvis compelled us to add bacon, banana and Nutella, creating the Hunka Chunka sandwich. 😋 Creativity can come from anywhere - including the Comfort Bagel test kitchen - where we’ve been trying out a couple new cream cheese ideas. One experiment is centered around sun-dried tomatoes, for all the savory lovers out there. And for the sweet toothers, maybe an apple cinnamon or caramel apple option, just in time for fall? This week at Comfort Bagel we’re gonna wash, rinse and repeat. Sometimes folks get bummed when we repeat flavors, but these 12 are sooooo easy to smile about - yes, I may be a little biased - that I don’t think we’re going to see any sad faces. Not everyone can make it in every day or every week - tho we wish y’all could 😉 - and we’d hate for anyone to miss out on one of their faves.

Serious bagel question for you… how frequently do you try different flavors? I’m guessing there are more people who stick with the same couple flavors all the time versus the people who try a different one every time. I’m guilty of it myself. I’d say 70% of the time I tend to reach for Asiago Parmesan. I may have it as a Turkey Clubber or as a Comfort Classic or even just schmeared with Bacon, Honey & Sriracha cream cheese and sliced tomato, but more often than not it’s an Asiago Parm. Many of you mentioned how much you liked last week’s lineup, so we decided to repeat it! A lot of our flavors use the same dough recipe, but are topped differently with seeds, cheeses and/or spices. But our specialty bagels have all that extra goodness mixed right into the dough. This week we’re featuring: Cranberry Orange, Onion Poppyseed and Sunflower & Sesame. Because they’re more labor intensive, we usually limit these flavors to a max of three per week. What kind of tasty add-ins do you think we should mix into next week’s batches? Any ideas? Happy Monday, bagel friends! Y’all know about our big five — Asiago Parmesan, Everything, Plain, Salted Rosemary, Sesame — the popular flavors we make 99% of the time. But every once in a while a new contender comes around looking to break into that elite group. Earlier this year, Italian Herb Parmesan got pretty close and still remains frequently requested by many of our guests. This week we’re debuting Oat & Honey for the very first time! With its subtle sweetness, hearty oats and some whole grain flour added in too, it may very well become the latest crowd favorite. Pick one up this week and let us know what you think!

It’s July already? Whew! Just so you know, we’ll be closed on Thursday, the 4th, but open our regular hours the rest of the week. Be sure to stop in, because Jalapeño Cheddar returns for another week and we’re bringing back Cardamom Spice and Poppyseed, too.

Speaking of our Poppyseed bagels, here are a few fun facts… poppy seeds are a good source of dietary fiber, protein, magnesium, and calcium. They also contain antioxidants and healthy fats. The first evidence of poppy seeds was found in the Mediterranean, where they were being used as a mild sedative as far back as 2700 BCE. And in 2023, the US Department of Defense issued a memorandum: Warning Regarding Poppy Seed Consumption and Military Drug Testing. It says the consumption of poppy seed products could result in a codeine positive urinalysis result. So if you need to go for any drug testing this week, maybe stick with Asiago Parmesan or Salted Rosemary! 🤣🤣🤣

It’s that time of year again! HOLYOKE PRIDEFEST happens from noon to 6pm this Saturday at Veterans Park. To get ready, we were super colorful at Comfort Bagel yesterday. The morning was spent prepping the vibrant dough for this week’s beautiful Rainbow bagels, and then the team made a bunch of rainbow-inspired tie dye t-shirts to wear for the celebration! We can’t wait to show them off… the bagels AND the t-shirts! 😉🏳️‍🌈
