Sibling portraits. Making momma happy when we looks at them on her wall.

What type of portraits would you love to see on your wall?

At my grandmother’s house we always has portraits on the wall. My favorite was a wedding photo of my grandma and grandpa in an ornate frame.

Do you prefer portraits or albums?

My doggie is so much healthier on raw. He used to have bad skin allergies and we had to take him to the vet and was given prednisone 😢 A friend recommended we try raw food before all the skin testing that needed to be done. Guess what? Our dog has never had that angry looking rash again. He’s leaned out and is all muscle! Try it out and see. You got 15% off to help you get started :-)

We will miss you dearly Rella girl and we will be praying for your momma and sisfur, Lilikoi. I know they are missing you soooo much. Mahalo for always making everyone smile.

When I look at this photo of Keiki I tear up. I first met her and took her photo at birthday party at the . I learned she had cancer from her equally as sweet momma . I was able to photograph her again in our studio and by then she had started chemo treatments to not cure her cancer but help her give her the best few months she had left. She was smiling and playing and even ate crunchy cod skin treats. It was a good day in the studio. Definitely something I will remember for always. Love you sweet Keiki. Thank you for everything.

…I am soooo THANKFUL for the Community. They really came together to show their support for this calendar. This is the first year starting this charity calendar and It’s usually hard to get an idea going the first time around. Not in this case. jumped in supporting and helping to do whatever that was needed to make this project a success. And even if we don’t hit our goal of selling 500 calendars (ok, please buy one so we do hit our donation goal 🙂 What I witnessed happen to get to this point is truely amazing. All the great things that the calendar participants said about their ‘hood or where they work is absolutely 100% true. It’s a fantastic place to be and the people in this town embrace you and treat you like family. Although I do not have the pleasure to live nor work in Kaimuki I hope I can be a neighbor to these lovely people in the future. Mahalo, Kaimuki. You really set the bar high for the next town for the 2019 Calendar. Which town is up to the challenge?

…I love shooting families and their pets. Especially when they have littles like Nainoa. .
Q: Tell us who is in this photo and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: Danny Kaaialii, Laura Reichhardt, our son Nainoa and our Frenchie, Moqui. We live in Kaimuki. .
Q: Tell us why you love Kaimuki.
A: Kaimuki is close to the mountains, the ocean, filled with local business owners that are or have become friends and a quick commute to our family and jobs. I love Kaimuki for its locally owned business and its walkable community. Every week I look forward to my Saturday morning walk with my son and dog to coffee shops and stores and walking to our favorite restaurants in the evenings. .
Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
A: Being part of the Kaimuki community and the part of the Public Pet community is a big part of the joy in our lives. More importantly, being part of a neighborhood that stands behind those in our community that are in greatest need reaffirms that this community of filled with friends and people who share our values of strong communities.

…Meet this next family. Dogs and cats can get along 🙂
Q: Tell us who is in this photo and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: Jason , Amanda , Nala aka Meow Meow, and Rika aka Bad gal Riri Watkins
We have lived in kaimuki for 9 years. Jason works at Cafe Miro and Amanda works occasionally.
Q: Tell us why you love Kaimuki.
A: We love Kaimuki because it still has a small town community feel. You can walk to some of the best restaurants on Oahu and some of the best hole in the wall secret spots. It's a mix of old and new from the crack seed store to the Public Pet. We couldn't see ourselves living anywhere else. It's the kind of place where everyone knows your name.
Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
A: Our lives changed for the better when we got our pets and we wanted to share that feeling. We are happy to support an organization that selflessly provides love and care to animals in need.

…this post was for yesterday so here it is 🙂
Q: Tell me who is in the picture and what do you do in Kaimuki. Live or Work.
A: Me and my best buddy Baron Von Fox Trott or Fox for short. We used to live in Kaimuki. We just moved and really miss it and are counting the days when we can move back.
Q: Tell me in a few sentences why you love Kaimuki.
A: I love how walkable it is. Having lived in Vancouver and San Francisco being able to walk to everything is so important to me especially because I can bring my pup while I run errands or do whatever it is I need to do. All the great restaurants and shops obviously add to it's walkability. Pretty much anything you need or want to do is close by. And of course the community vibe. People are super friendly and treat you like a neighbour even if they've just met you. It's truly a special community and I miss it.
Q: Tell me why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet or why helping organizations like K-9 Kokua is important to you.
A: I’m lucky that I can make sure my pets get the care they need. Vet bills and proper care can be expensive and not everyone can afford it. Especially those that face other serious challenges in their life like proper housing or safety from domestic abuse. Often those people are the ones that need the comfort and companionship of their animal friends the most but often cannot afford it. I hope that by participating in this calendar that we can raise funds to help those animals in the most need.

…You probably know their pupcakes and have seen their taste testers. Read below to get to know them a little more and then check out their IG stories!
Q: Tell us who is in this photo and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: Niki Libarios (human), Co-Owner of Hawaii Doggie Bakery . Katsumi & Kuri Firefox (HDB Official Taste Testers). We live in Kaimuki.
Q: Tell us why you love Kaimuki.
A: Kaimuki is such a great area! It’s very safe, doesn’t rain too much, conveniently located to shopping, great food and most importantly - easy to walk the dogs! Our whole family lives in the Kaimuki/Kapahulu area and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I even have a 96816 t-shirts! 😀
Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
C: We’ve supported K9 Kokua ever since we’ve becoming owners of Hawaii Doggie Bakery 6 years ago through fundraisers like Christmas in July, K9 Kokua Trees and donating to their annual Get Down for the Dogs Fundraiser. We support K9 Kokua because we love what they do, and we feel they provide a service to the community that not very many people would be willing to take on. Every time Kale and Jae come into our shop there is a new amazing and inspiring story! It takes a special group of people to do what they do, and we are beyond honored to continue to support them through participating in this beautiful calendar!

Q: Tell us who is in this photo and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: Our names are Rei and Erik and the boys are Slick and Fatboi. In the photo, I’m holding Fatboi and Erik is holding Slick. We are Kaimuki residents and work (and play) in the area as well. .
Q: Tell us why you love .
A: Kaimuki is a community with the perfect balance of retro and modern, suburban and metropolitan. It’s a great strolling town with a down-to-earth vibe and we absolutely love it here!
Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
A: Supporting organizations such as K9 Kokua is important to us because we feel a moral responsibility toward domesticated creatures. We love dogs but are crazy about cats - especially our boys - and believe animals are crucial members of any community. .

Our next calendar participant is Jenn. If you like Ulu you probably know who she is 🙂
Q: Tell us who is in this photo and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: It's me, Jenn, my doggy baby daddy, Kelly Tam Sing, and our dogs--Abby and Izzy (blue heeler littermates), and Matilda (Bulgarian street dog). I'm a chef at Juicy Brew on 8th and Waialae, and Kelly lives on Maunalani Heights. I work about a zillion hours a week and live in Kahaluu, so having Kelly live near the cafe and help me care for our furry beasts, makes him the most supportive human in my life.

Q: Tell us why you love Kaimuki.
A: The sense of community along Waialae is just amazing. I love walking down the street in my apron and feeling like Belle in Beauty and the Beast saying "bonjour" to all the people, but silently, because I'm actually social phobic. But I do love the comfort that comes from knowing everyone, and knowing that they are all passionate about what they do--whether it's Chris at Breadshop; Jordan and Matt at The Public Pet; Alan, Kris, and Laurie at Kaimuki Auto Repair; everyone at Ace; or the whole Superette/Mud Hen/Town squad. Before we built out Juicy Brew, we looked at commercial spaces in other neighborhoods, but I always knew we belonged in Kaimuki.
Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
A: I have only ever wanted dog children, and to say I have more affection and compassion for animals than people is an understatement. I swooped Matilda off a dirt road in Bulgaria when I was in the Peace Corps in 2005, and she's been my canine soulmate ever since. Izzy gets me out of bed and into the mountains on all the days I can't get myself out of bed, so I understand deeply the meaning and support animal companions bring to human lives. I am more than thrilled to help an organization such a K-9 Kokua, that assists the dogs of the houseless--especially if all it takes is posing for a photo. I hope we are able to provide a substantial donation to this crucial nonprofit via calendar sales.

Let's start to get to know the who are in this year's calendar .
Q: Tell is who is in the picture and if you live or work in Kaimuki.
A: My Husband Lucas Arnold, our furry Child Bru and myself Wainani Arnold. We live in Kaimuki (Palolo to be exact) and I (Wainani) work in Kaimuki, just opened Wainani Wellness Center on 10th Avenue.

Q: Tell us why you love Kaimuki.
A: We love Kaimuki because it is our home! This is where my husband grew up, where we met, where we found Bru, where we have made many wonderful memories and where we plan to make many more. We adore how Kaimuki has become a wonderful walk about neighborhood where we can eat, shop, eat, bank, eat, exercise...can you tell we love to eat? In truth many of our favorite eateries and coffee/tea spots are in Kaimuki, how lucky are we?

Q: Tell us why you wanted to be apart of this calendar with your pet and why helping organizations like is important to you.
A: We both have major soft spots in our hearts for animals and especially dogs.... and it was a no brainer to participate in this project that would help K9 Kokua and dogs in need of families in need. The bonus of it being a calendar was that we got to work with an amazing group of people and got some photo time with our pup.
