You can never forget dessert at KALO! 🤤 🌺

You can’t go much more traditional than laulau. Usually filled with pork or fish, in our restaurant, we use a bit of both. Wrapped in tí and taro leaves, before steaming for for hours, the meat will just melt in your mouths.

Did you know that “butterfish”, is actually a type of preparation, to give silk-like texture, and a buttery taste, to any fish?? Here, , we use only the juiciest sea bass — soaking in a batch of our classic Miso Marinate for at least a day, before serving with mash potatoes, baby carrot, French green beans; and, of course, we provide a small bed of Lobster Reduction — all made in-house!

せっかくハワイに来たなら少なくとも一度はハワイの伝統料理を食べてほしい、それなら、観光客にとって行きやすいワイキキにお店を作るべきだ、というコンセプトで2021年7月にオープンしたレストラン『KALO』。手がけるのはパシフィック・リム料理で有名なチャイ・チャオワサリーシェフ。レストラン『シェフ・チャイ』でも有名ですよね。

ハワイアンフードは昔食べたポイ（タロイモを蒸してペースト状にしたもの）の味がちょっと苦手で、その後避け気味だったのですが、ちゃんとおいしいものを食べるとこれが好きになるのですよね。ポイはもちろん、カルアポーク、ロミサーモン、チキンロングライス、ピピカウラどれもおいしかったです。ちょっとずつ盛り合わせになっているのも嬉しいですよね。

そして美しい焼き加減のアヒカツ。マウイ島産のパイナップルを使ったサルサソースとココナツカレーソースとの相性もバツグンでした♪
