Standing dead trees and stumps can become breeding material. The galleries in this stump show signs of larvae feeding on the decomposing wood. When cutting down trees, cut them as close to the soil level as possible. If you can, grind the stump or cover it with netting.

This map shows relative trap catches on Oahu from February through July. Central and West Oahu still have the most trap finds but we keep seeing an increase in beetles on the north shore and windward side.
If you live in an area with high CRB populations we recommend managing potential breeding sites (mulch compost and any decaying plant material) and treating palms. Check out management options on our website crbhawaii.org/treatments🌴

CRB canine, Bravo conducts breeding site surveys, using his sense of smell and love of treats to find CRB! Our canine handlers aerate material to make any CRB scent more available for Bravo, and reward his search using treats.
Since CRB can breed in any decaying plant waste, mulch is ideal. If you have any potential breeding material on your property be sure to search through for any CRB at least once every 4 months!
We are getting back into the swing of things with our volunteer service trips 😆🤎💚
