Food Drive Day 2024 – Mahalo
As we close out Food Drive Day this year, we wanted to share a quick message from Amy, our president and CEO. 💚🤙 Mahalo for your support this Food Drive Day, and every day of the year. Together – when we nourish our ‘ohana today, we can end hunger tomorrow.

“They give good food. They give good vegetables, and I like coming because it helps. Every little bit helps, and there are a lot of people who need it out there.” – Frances Frances is one of our neighbors who visits the monthly Senior Food Box distribution at the Parish of St. Clement. The Senior Food Box Program provides eligible kūpuna with a monthly box of food that includes items like items like fresh fruit, vegetables, cereal, juice, grains and more. Mahalo to our friends at the Parish of St. Clement, all our volunteers and our neighbors like Frances, who inspire our work everyday. 🧡 #SeniorFoodBox #NourishOurOhana #endhunger #FoodAssistance #eatlocal

Mahalo to everyone who helped us Stamp Out Hunger this last Saturday! 🧡 Hundreds of volunteers and local partners gathered at our warehouse throughout the evening, where we received nearly 125,000 pounds in food donations from all across O‘ahu. On top of that, we also received more than $26,000 in online donations – a combined total that will provide food for nearly 160,000 meals. The annual National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the nation's largest all-volunteer, single-day food collection effort. Every year, we are humbled to witness how the community comes together for this event, and we are incredibly grateful to all of our local partners who make it happen. #NourishOurOhana #FoodAssistance #Volunteering #StampOutHunger #CommunitySupport

Last Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of Waikiki SPAM JAM. Leading up to this year’s event, our friends at the SJ foundation and Alaska Airlines came together to offer a special $35,000 SPAM JAM® Match Opportunity. We are excited to announce we exceeded the double match goal. Collectively, this support will help provide food for nearly 260,000 meals! 🍽 SPAM JAM® was a special evening, and our team and volunteers had such a good time converging with the community along Kalākaua Avenue (and a special mahalo to Kamea Hadar for sharing space with us!). It’s really become a cultural tradition over the last couple of decades, and it reminds us of our community’s creative, collaborative and versatile spirit — the same spirit we see every day at Hawai‘i Foodbank. 🧡 It never ceases to amaze us, the variety of ways in which our community converges around the shared goal of nourishing our ‘ohana. From all of us at Hawai‘i Foodbank — mahalo. #HawaiiFoodbank#NourishOurOhana #SpamJam #EndHunger #Fundraiser #Volunteering

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the State Employeesʻ Food Drive is Hawai‘i Foodbank’s oldest and largest coalition. 🏛️ Our coalitions unite like-minded businesses, organizations, groups and individuals by hosting food drives, raising money and finding other creative ways to support our mission. As a part of this year’s fundraising efforts, the State Employees’ Food Drive hosted its 2nd annual Food Drive Fest last Friday at the Capitol. Special thanks to Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke for leading the efforts, and mahalo to all the vendors, donors, employees and Governor Josh Green for pitching in. At Hawai‘i Foodbank, disaster preparedness is an integral pillar of our mission. On Jan. 25, we kicked off our first-ever Disaster Preparedness Training Series, which aims to collaboratively build the disaster response capabilities our organization and network can use to meet the unique needs of our community on Oʻahu. We were excited to gather with a handful of our agency partners and welcome guest speakers Patrick Crawford, director of disaster services at @feedingamerica, and Mari Jo Laborde, executive director of the @bancodealimentospuertorico. Together, we shared the challenges and hopes we have for our work to meet the need - whether for a large-scale disaster that impacts our community or for the everyday disaster of hunger so many in our ʻohana face. To set us on our path forward, we learned about the disaster response landscape and where we fit in. We know our challenge is to be prepared when disaster impacts our community and we are so grateful for the support of the @stupskifoundation and @feedingamerica to make this work come to life 🙏🧡. #HawaiiFoodbank #NourishOurOhana #DisasterPreparedness #FoodBanking #CommunityResilience #oahustrong
