Many believers have no idea how much of their daily lives are influenced by the subtle deception and lies of our adversary. The Bible clearly teaches that Satan is on mission to destroy God’s people. And the problem is, Satan doesn’t announce his temptations and schemes. Instead, he’s very secretive as he attempts to lead Christians down a subtle, gradual path of deception. How can you defend yourself? How can you win this invisible war? In The Invisible War Sermon Series Pastor Barry shares what every believer needs to know about spiritual warfare in order to defend themselves against Satan’s daily attacks, and have the confidence of winning the invisible war.

In this sermon Pastor Barry will share with us examples of the flaming arrows we can expect and what it looks like when we extinguish them.

The first mentioned is the belt of truth. Pastor Barry will share what it is, what it means and how it applies to our lives.

Today we celebrate history’s brightest moment. The tomb is empty, Jesus is alive, but throughout history there have been a variety of attempts by skeptics to explain away the resurrection. Jesus actually made ten different appearances after His resurrection. In one of them He was seen by over five hundred people. These appearances convinced these witnesses that Jesus was indeed very much alive. In this sermon Pastor Barry shares three specific ways the resurrection can impact your life; 1. it validated Jesus, 2. it defeated death, and 3. it restores hope.
Jesus is down to the final hours of His life. He has been listening to His disciples as they argue among themselves about which one of them is the most important. Jesus taught, “The first will be last,” and “If you want to be great, then you become the servant of all.” With less than twenty-four hours left on the clock, Jesus has time for one more lesson. But this time He doesn’t use words. He walks over, picks up a towel and a wash basin, and the disciples quietly watch as the Creator of the World, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Son of the living God washes their dirty, smelly, calloused, feet. As Jesus’ final hour approaches, He chooses to underline in bold print this one message… SERVE ONE ANOTHER!
3/10 The Invisible War: Who Is Lucifer. Ephesians 6:10-20; II Corinthians 2:11. From Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14, two of the core Old Testament passages on spiritual warfare, Pastor Barry shares insight into who Lucifer is, and why we should respect him, but should not be afraid of him or preoccupied with him.

It is Real! Ephesians 6:10-12. Leading up to Chapter six in Ephesians the apostle Paul talks about the entire realm of living the Christian life, but then reminds these new believers that their new life in Christ will be lived out in a hostile environment and instructs them to be prepared. In this sermon Pastor Barry shares the first two commands regarding spiritual warfare and why they are the key to winning the invisible war.
As we are in the month of February and the grocery stores have cleared out the green and red Christmas candy and restocked their shelves with pink candy, and the Hallmark Stores are stocked with cards, Valentines Day must be coming up fast. Lee will be preaching on Love from 1 Corinthians 13, with his sermon titled What Love Gives. Paul writes in verse 4 that Love is Patient and Kind. Why does patience have to be at the top of this list? That’s the hardest one of the whole list! Well, we will take a look at how all of these characteristics fit together in God’s perfect love for us. He asks that you bring your Bible from home to church with you.

Big news story today in Hawaii
When you open the pages of scripture to read the nativity story, way before you ever read of Jesus’ birth you read about Jesus’ Family Tree, the genealogy of Jesus. It’s very much a part of the Christmas story that starts in Genesis, continues all the way through the Old Testament to the first chapter and the first verse of the New Testament. The family tree of Jesus reflects all of humanity and the message is clear. Christmas is for everyone! Christmas is for everyone because everyone is represented in Jesus’ family tree. Whatever kind of family you come from is the kind of family that Jesus comes from, but more importantly it’s the kind of family that Jesus comes for.

When you are desperate for the Lord’s help praying, “God is Great, God is Good, Let us thank him for our food…” just doesn’t seem appropriate. There are times when “Now I lay me down to sleep” doesn’t communicate the cry of our heart. We’ve all prayed prayers that seemed to go unanswered, so how do you pray the kind of prayer that gets God’s attention? How do you pray in a way that God is more likely to answer? In this sermon Pastor Barry will share the remaining principles for praying in a crisis gleaned from the prayer of one who has a track record of finding God’s favor.

If God is not a good God, there is no rational, or logical reason for hope. The foundation of all hope is the goodness of God. David had hope because he anticipated the goodness of God. That is particularly evident in his most familiar words found in Psalm 23. There we find nine benefits we experience because of God’s goodness. In this sermon Pastor Barry shares what each of those benefits are.

10/29 (Reformation Sunday) The Just Shall Live By Faith. Romans 1:17. On the Christian Calendar each year is Reformation Sunday, observed the last Sunday in October. On October 31, 1517, the priest and scholar Martin Luther approaches the door of the Church in Wittenberg, Germany, and nails a piece of paper to it containing the 95 revolutionary theses that would begin the Protestant Reformation. In these theses, Luther condemned the excesses and corruption of the Roman Catholic Church, especially the papal practice of asking for payment—called “indulgences”—for the forgiveness of sins. In this sermon Pastor Barry introduces Martin Luther and shares how his life was transformed by the realization that, “the just shall live by faith”. Continuing Maui Musings sermon series next Sunday.
