- Chart House Waikiki opened in 1968 by Joey Cabell
- Prior to that Joey opened Chart House in Aspen 1961 and Chart House Newport Beach in 1963 with a partner
- Joey was also well known in the surfing community as a renowned surfer since the 1960s and had the privilege to be on Duke Kahanamoku’s surf team

Rest in Aloha Dean "Shima" Shimabukuro. We are grateful for over 30 years of music on Sundays as our longest standing Dean and Dean band. You will truly be missed.
November 2023 would have marked the 38th year of the Dean and Dean Band at Chart House Waikiki. Before Sunday's at Chart House, Dean and Dean were the Na Kolohe pair of "Frank Delima and Na Kolohe." All in all they played together for 49 years. Mahalo nui loa for all of the memories.
