Now that you've got your receipts and tax documents organized and separated between business and personal, it is time to start accounting for your expenses. While using a spreadsheet is fine, it's probably a good time to start considering a desktop or a cloud based accounting program. You can also skip the hassle and outsource your accounting to a bookkeeper or CPA firm. All businesses are different, so if you don't know where to start, give us a call. We offer a free consultation to help you find a solution to your bookkeeping needs.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
With tax season approaching, read our first tip to help you get prepared.
First off, we find that most business owners don't have the time to get organized because there is no filing system in place. With mounds of documents and receipts, it's one of the top reasons of why the bookkeeping is put off until the very last minute and we, as your bookkeepers, end up getting a shoebox of "stuff".
Are you looking to avoid that this year?
A simple, but effective, way to combat mounds of receipts is to use a 6-13 pocket accordion file folder. Start by sorting out your documents by month or by category. That way, you can section off portions to work on little by little.
If you found this informative, stay tuned for other tips and tricks to make the tax season smooth sailing for you.

We hate to be Debbie Downers during the holiday season, but don't forget that as we celebrate the New Year we have a tax season that follows! With 2019 coming to a close, it's also a good time to start tax planning if you haven't done so yet. Don't caught off-guard with a low tax refund or worse, having to pay taxes! It's time to start getting organized to close the year with a bang. Work with your bookkeeper, accountant, or CPA to make sure your books are lined up for the upcoming tax season.
