♻️ Our students and families care deeply about the environment and our ‘Āina. Today, Wai’alae Public Charter School hosted a 3R’s Recycling Drive for our community in partnership with the Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation (KHF). We extend a huge mahalo to Natalie McKinney, Chief Program Officer at KHF, and her dedicated team for bringing this event to our school, along with our wonderful Parent and Community Liaison, Mel Sumida. Another big mahalo to our amazing families and community partners who supported and helped make the event a big success!

Additionally, this month, several of our students and families took part in a community workday at the Kōkua Learning Farm. Wai’alae was the first school to partner with Kim and Jack Johnson’s Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation, and it’s been incredible to see our partnership grow and thrive over the years. Congratulations to KHF as they celebrate 20 years of making positive impacts on our environment, community, and education! 🌎

We are also proud of our outstanding ‘Āina program at Wai’alae in partnership with the Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation. A huge Mahalo to ʻAnakē Megan for another successful year of educating, empowering, and engaging our students to live sustainably and care for our Earth! 🌍🌱

Last week, a lucky group of fourth graders had the opportunity to be the first to use the portable food prep/demonstration stations that had been constructed by a former Wai‘alae student!

The fourth graders had lessons on food prep safety and then made their own breakfast burritos.

Mahalo to our former student, his dad, and current Wai‘alae parent Chef Tiffanie for the educational, fun, and delicious morning!

🎉 Celebrating 95 Years of Excellence at Waialae School! 🎂📚

This past week we were bursting with pride as we marked 95 incredible years of Waialae School's legacy. 🏫✨ To commemorate this milestone, we put together an array of activities that captured the essence of our school's rich history and vibrant spirit.

🍳 We started two of the mornings with special breakfasts straight from the cherished cookbook our parents crafted many moons ago. These recipes were a delicious slice of our history.

🌈 Monday was a special assembly as we celebrated School Color Day, where our vibrant community came together. Students and faculty supported both our old school colors of green and yellow and our current school colors of red and white!

🍰 And what's a celebration without dessert? A heartfelt shoutout to one of our amazing parents who created this delectable masterpiece, just for us! 😍

Over the past 95 years, we saw lots of change, but one thing remained constant: Waialae School continued to be a special place where students flourish and thrive. Many students have gone on to make positive impacts in our local and global community over the years! 🌟

👏 We raise a toast to all the incredible educators and staff who have woven themselves into the very fabric of Waialae. Their dedication has made all the difference in making our school such a special place.

Here's to a bright future filled with endless possibilities! 🌅💫
