Ms. Murayama always pushed Nikki to challenge herself and always took the time to be there for her. Nikki recounts when she almost did not attend her own high school graduation ceremony. She remembers her compassionate teacher who treated her with respect and empathy. It was because of Ms. Murayama's words of encouragement that Nikki did end up going.
