While there are many orthodontic problems that orthodontists agree are best treated after all permanent teeth have come in, early treatment can be in a patient’s best interest; especially if the orthodontic problem is one that could worsen if left untreated. The goal of early treatment is to intercept the developing problem, eliminate the cause, guide the growth of facial and jaw bones, and provide adequate space for incoming permanent teeth. A patient may require a second course of treatment after all permanent teeth have come in to move those teeth into their best positions.

Examples of problems that orthodontists may treat early include:

* Underbites – when the lower front teeth are ahead of the upper front teeth
* Crossbites – when the jaw shifts to one side
* Very crowded teeth
* Excessively spaced teeth
* Extra or missing teeth
* Teeth that meet abnormally, or don’t meet at all
* Thumb-, finger-, or pacifier- sucking that affect the proper development of the jaws and teeth

Treatment of these problems at early ages can produce benefits that may prevent a more difficult treatment later. Such treatment usually requires a two-phase treatment program beginning with early interceptive treatment between the ages of 7-10.

Yay!! Starting September 20, 2022, we will be back at the Ala Moana building, Suite 503!!

Wednesday: Massive water main break with flooding for over 2 hours

Thursday: Damage control!

Friday: Assess and inventory salvaged equipment. Clean office and set up new temporary office space. Notify patients of temporary scheduling delays in the coming week

Tuesday: Resume work out of temporary office space with limited patients.

Such an unfortunate incident for many businesses inside the Ala Moana building. But the overwhelming response and outreach from the Dental and local community for us has been amazing! We are truly appreciative of the Aloha and generosity, from fellow Dentists offering their office space to help accommodate our patients to service vendors stepping in to assist with immediate action. Patients that were contacted with the news and needing to reschedule has also shown tremendous grace and patience. We appreciate the Hawaii Orthodontist family so very much!

This disaster has really shown what Aloha is all about and we couldn’t be more thankful 🥲!

Special thanks to the amazing team at Hawaii Orthodontist for working so hard with the clean up, organizing and set up, and proving moving forward with a positive attitude can seriously move mountains!

Multi level flooding in the Ala Moana building today! Earlier this afternoon we experienced severe flooding in the office with non stop pouring for 2 hours! This has caused significant water damage to our office and equipment.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances regarding our office, we were forced to cancel all appointments for Friday. Future appointments into the following week may also be affected and we will notify patients via email or text as needed.

We are currently looking for a temporary office space to safely accommodate all of our wonderful patients that are scheduled in the Ala Moana office.
