Koto Era Sadatsuna Daito.
He is the son of Sekishu Naotsuna. Sadatsunas works are from around Meitoku to Oei era (Latter half of Nambokucho period 1390-1394). Hamon is gunome midare done in fine ko nie deki. Jigane is O itame with ko itame. Hada is a mixture of chikei mixed thru out. It's an Osuriage Mumei, but has an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon attributing to Sekishu Sadatsuna. In the 1950's when the registration of swords was being done the person doing the registration would sometimes write there appraisal on the registration form ( Torokusho). In this case, they wrote Naotsuna on the Torokusho. Later the NBTHK gave their appraisal as Sadatsuna. This blade is in shirasaya and has a sayagaki by Tanobe Michihro to Sekishu Sadatsuna.Nagasa/Length is 28 inches which is a great length for an osuriage blade shortened from a long Nambokucho sword. Old Fierce Nio menuki for A Japanese sword handle. Made of copper with gold highlights to his ribbon robe and garment. Small black shakudo eyes. Size: 4.5cm Nio are guardian statues found at Japanese Buddhist Temples. They are placed at temple entrances to guard against evil spirits demons and negative energies. They are seen as a pair: one with his mouth open called Agyyo and one with his mouth closed called ungyo. The open-mouth Nio symbolizes beginning, birth.
