To take foreign fills or to not take foreign fills? That is the question 🤔

And my answer to this is, yes, you should. But why?

In my personal experience, majority of the foreign fills I took on were ‘rescue’ fills, meaning these clients needed lash rehabilitation. This gives you, the lash artist, the opportunity to educate your client as to why their current lash set isn’t healthy for them and how you’re going to fix it. Once you’ve educated your client, this makes them feel cared for and they will appreciate your expertise so much that I can guarantee you that they’ll be coming back and you’ve just gained another loyal client. You’ve gained their trust by showing that you simply care about them and their lash health.

So what do you do?

1️⃣ Have the client take photos of their current set (using the back camera of their phone). Top view, open eyes, as many angles as they can get to determine if they’ll need a ‘lash rescue’
2️⃣ If your client comes in needing a ‘lash rescue’, educate them on why you need to fix their lashes in a way that they can understand and not using lash artist terms

✨ BONUS: If you retail lash serum, this is your chance to upsell. Advise your client they should start using a lash serum to regenerate hair growth since their old set was damaging to their natural lashes.

Alright, I’m not here to say stop what you’re doing because of your lash extensions BUT I am giving you a warning of what could potentially happen to your lashes when it’s in close contact with heat.

Lash extensions are made up of synthetic fibers and when it comes in contact with heat, they will singe, causing them to lose its curl and get all crazy.

And in this photo specifically, this client was near heat causing the tips of her extensions to singe and she does not cleanse her lashes, which you can still see make up on her lash line and on her lashes because her fans are all closed 🫠

Lashes are an investment ladies, please take care of them 🤎

“Can you change my set to a wispy look?” 🤔

When I get asked this question, I always ask my clients, “Okay, define wispy?”

Everyone has their own definition of wispy and in this particular case, my client gave me this reference photo of Kylie Jenner’s lashes. Very wet, messy mascara vibes lol

I then proceeded to let my client know that it will take a few sessions for us to achieve this look. Why? Because we’ve already established a certain map and fan consistency. Creating this look will take a different fan technique and I can only replace the fans that have outgrown and needed to be removed. Otherwise, we’d have to do an entire removal and full set

If you look closely, can you spot itty bitty hairs on her newly waxed 🐱?? Those itty bitty hairs were too small enough for the wax to pull up. When you shave, your hair cycle for each and every hair is on a different cycle, meaning they all grow at different lengths. Shaving only removes the hair shaft on top of the surface, while waxing removes the entire hair follicle from your pores

Staying consistent with your wax & scheduling every 4-6 weeks will regulate your hair cycle and you can say hello to a nice, hairless, glowing 🐱✨🤩
