Our hearts are with the people of Maui who are still hurting from the devastating wildfires that occurred one year ago. Our Goodwill Maui team recently reflected on their experiences as they came together to support their community. We recently closed another successful season of our FREE tax clinics. Our dedicated Goodwill Hawaii staff were joined by nearly 70 volunteers across the state to prepare and file taxes for more than 2,800 locals, including 1,400 kūpuna (seniors), and resulted in $3.1 million in tax refunds. $20 Challenge: Is it possible to set a dreamy charcuterie grazing table with a budget of $20? We partnered with super thrifter Nicole (@nikkkkkkimo ) to learn her go-to hacks for curating a lush tablescape that’s both affordable and Instagramable. ​​If you find these tips helpful, comment: “yes” & share some of your tips with us! 🔹Know what you need – Before heading to Goodwill, make sure you have some idea of the tableware you want to find. Think of the food you’ll be serving and get creative with displaying your spread. Get inspiration from items you already have in your cabinet and find thrifted pieces to pair. We were flexible on the general theme or color combinations, but knew we needed a platter to create a focal point. 🔹Think complimentary – When you’re hunting, choose items that work together, rather than overpower. We used color and material to help us find complimentary pieces and played with multiple textures from crystal stemware and silver serving plates that allowed our colorful glassware finds to pop. 🔹Shop sale items – Always check the “Color Tag of the Week” so you can search for discounted goods that will stretch your dollar & keep you on budget. We just had to have the 50% off silver platter which helped tie the tablescape together. 🔹Take your time – Set aside enough time to shop and browse every aisle so you don’t feel pressured. Take time to access your thrifted finds and put back pieces you don’t feel 💯 about. 🙌Our haul was $20.96 (before tax).
