Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful start to 2024. It’s time to “empower youth voices” by entering Hawaiʻi’s largest annual statewide student video competition.

For 21 years and counting, Youth Xchange (YXC) continues to encourage and expand student participation and impact so that Hawaiʻi’s young voices can be heard, and we at ʻŌlelo Community Media feel honored to be able to provide that platform for Hawaiʻi’s youth. Please visit our YXC 2024 webpage for more information on this year’s categories and to watch video messages from our sponsors.

As a reminder, the entry period is now open, and entries can be submitted at the 2024 Youth Xchange Statewide Student Video Competition Award Force site. If you haven’t already, please register as an entrant. If you have registered in previous years, it is not necessary to re-register. Once you are registered, you may complete the online Entry Form and upload and submit your video entries by 11:59 p.m. HST on Friday, March 1, 2024.

SERVICE PROJECT for PALAMA SETTLEMENT

Two shifts: 8am-12 and 12pm-4pm

The Rotary Club of Honolulu, along with the Boy Scouts will be working hard to clean and refresh the Game Room at Palama Settlement. The Game Room is just one of many rooms that allows the kids to relax, study, play, and converse. This room is in need of cleaning and painting. Bring your old towels and rags! Have a drop cloth? bring that too!

What a beautiful morning it was to place flowers on the Nisei WWII Veterans graves. Tomorrow there will be an honor ceremony for the 100th Battalion at 9:30 am.
