Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, India, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Chola architecture. The temple was built in the 11th century by King Raja Raja Chola I and is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
The Brihadeeswarar Temple is a massive stone structure with a large dome on top. The dome is made from a single block of granite and weighs over 80 tons. The temple is also decorated with elaborate carvings and sculptures.
The Brihadeeswarar Temple is a popular tourist destination and is also a place of worship for Hindus around the world. It is a significant example of Indian culture and architecture.
The temple's library is home to a collection of over 10,000 palm-leaf manuscripts, many of which are religious texts. The scrolls are written in Tamil, the language of the Chola dynasty.
