The Gloria Center Emergency Shelter will be open as a Cooling Shelter due to extreme heat:

Friday, July 5 - 11 am to 7 pm
Saturday, July 6 - 11 am to 7 pm
Sunday, July 7 - 11 am to 7 pm
Monday, July 8 - 11 am to 7 pm
Tuesday, July 9 - 11 am to 7 pm
Wednesday, July 10 - 11 am to 7 pm

The Gloria Center is located at 2505 W. 7th Street in The Dalles.

Cooling Shelter operations are led by MCCAC staff and supported by community volunteers. Supports provided include a cool location, water, snacks, hygiene, and first aid items.

We are also accepting donations of supply items for the Cooling Shelter, including gatorade, shelf-stable snack items, lip balm, and sunscreen. Supply donations may be dropped off to The Gloria Center during Cooling Center operations hours or regular business hours.

Please take a few minutes to take the 2024 Community Health Assessment (CHA) survey. The CHA survey asks community members about their health and well-being and their perception of their community. The survey results help identify areas of need and guides how funding and resources are invested in our community.

The survey is open for responses from now through July 15th. There is also a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card! The raffle prize winners will be drawn after the survey closes.

In order to help local individuals and families find and maintain stable housing, we partner with local landlords across Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman counties. Without the support and involvement of local landlords, MCCAC's housing programs would not be successful.

We are inviting local landlords to join us for a Landlord Luncheon to learn about the financial supports and assurances we can offer to landlords who rent to our clients.

You can help by sharing this invite to landlords that you know, or by attending if you have rental housing.

There will be two identical sessions, feel free to join the one that works best for your schedule. Lunch will be provided.

Items needed include individually packaged shelf stable snacks, gatorade, reusable water bottles, lip balm, and sunscreen.

Donations can be dropped off at MCCAC offices weekdays during regular business hours.

The Hood River Shelter is now closed for the season. During its operating season from November 2023 through March 2024, the shelter served 45 people and supported 9 individuals to transition from the shelter into long-term, stable housing.

We are grateful to the many partner organizations, restaurant supporters, and community volunteers who help make shelter operations possible.
